Hey guys,
I was wondering if there is any information and statistics on total number of applicants compared to awardees for the national 4 year NROTC scholarship. If anyone has them on hand or can point me in the right direction, I am certainly one for enlightenment. I know about percentage of tier majors and what not. I'm an aerospace engineering (hopeful) major with, what I consider, a competitive application, résumé, and state of physical fitness. I'm wrapping up my application process for the scholarship this week and would like to know of the fate of those who previously tred the path before me.

The only number I have ever seen is 20% from here: http://naval.dasa.ncsu.edu/sites/na...sitors/Scholarship application info-2013F.pdf

I don't know how official this is and it's a couple years old. With the draw down, lack of funds, etc. I suspect it's a fair amount lower at the present time.

If you are looking for stats to compare yourself to, take a look at the USNA admissions stats. The NROTC stats are usually a little bit higher as the competition is nationally based throughout. USNA starts out geographically based.

Thanks. Off topic for a sec here, but I'm currently scheduled to take the ACT Saturday and was wondering, if I sent that score to the NROTC center, would it be considered after I had already submitted my application?

My son received a scholarship 2 years ago and the scholarship acceptance rate for his class was 17%.

Send any and all updates to your NROTC coordinator as soon as you get them. Do not wait for official scores, or for the lagging writing/essay results to trickle in. Send the preliminary English + Math results just as soon as they appear on your ACT web portal. Don't be shy. My DS did exactly this with the Sep ACT exam - after his application had already been processed and sent for review. His NROTC coordinator sent it to the board right away - and DS received his 4-yr scholarship notification soon after. Good luck!

Thanks for the info! I am very confident about my chances. I have a 30 on the math and 31 on the English so far but I know I can do better tomorrow.

Not to alarm anyone, but ACT reporting has had issues for their Oct tests. My DD took her test Oct 24th, in the past her ACT portal has been updated within 2 weeks, it has been 7 and her scores have not been posted yet. We are trying not to panic since Cadet Command received the electronic score report directly from ACT December 3rd, which is very strang, and her Cadet Command Portal is showing accepted and board ready. The good news is she increased her score by 3 pointSs! But very strange that 7 weeks out she still does not have a copy of her report to access herself, nor is the ACT portal showing anything.

For Army - If you have the results you can directly load them up on the website once you have a screen shot/PDF of the results. CC accepted this for DS. We sent his ACT scores 2x and they took forever to get there and would not have made it for the Board. It will show 'pending' for a day or two but once they review it, it should change. You also can have this done by having the scores reported on your DD's transcript by her College Counselor & uploading the transcript. We did this and they'll accept those too. Best to double or triple up given the timing of the paperwork being due soon. Once they've been boarded, you can't get the new scores in.

That is what we had to do the first time around, CC seems to be loading the electronic score reports quicker right now, maybe because we are getting close to the deadline, the first one was during the summer. I am just happy they received the electronic report, since ACT is being slow getting her the scores directly. It just seems odd they sent them to CC and her schools before she can see them.
