On the USMA website, the eligible SAT score to apply for the SLE is 1200-1300. Is this excluding the essay? It seems awfully low compared to the ACT score which is 26-30.

Can you please send link to where the USMA website says that. I was unable to find it. I assume that is a composite ACT. Thanks.

Please remember, admission to attend SLE is not a requirement to win an appointment to WP

The link refers to an average of selected SLE candidates, not an eligible score. Eligibility implies a minimum qualification. It specifically says directly below those averages:

"If you don't fit those categories, STILL APPLY. You have to try!"

As with acceptance to WP, there are no minimum scores as part of the whole candidate approach. With that said, there are a couple of axioms that hold true - 1) there is no average Cadet, only statistics that show the average of Cadets, and 2) the only guarantee is that you won't get in if you don't apply.
