Update for DADT
Military Policy Comes Under Fire
(Washington, DC) -- The military's ban on gays comes under fire today in the nation's capital. Gay activists are enlisting military officers to be among those speaking at a rally on Capitol Hill at noon Eastern time today. The idea is to pressure Congress and the White House to pass a bill that would lift the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy that has seen 13-thousand service members expelled since it went into effect in 1994. The bill has 115 co-sponsors, but even ardent fans in Congress say the timing may be off as President Obama tackles an ambitious economic and foreign policy agenda.
One person though who wants action now on this issue is Jim Moran, D-Va. “My personal feeling is the Army can’t afford to be losing professional soldiers for reasons that are not directly related to their ability to carry out their military mission,” Moran told The Examiner
