It is my understanding that the DODMERB is the exam for both ROTC and SA's correct? Will I need to take the exam before I am given a scholarship offer or will they tell me to take it after they have chosen me?

They set up the physical after you have been awarded a scholarship. The scholarship is dependent on passing the DoDMERB exam.

My son started out as a college programmer and was awarded the 4 year Marine Option scholarship. He had already taken the DoDMERB exam the previous year for USNA. It was still valid when he was awarded the Marine Option scholarship this year.

Generally speaking though, if you don't already have a DoDMERB physical that's under 2 years old, the basics steps are to accept the scholarship and await the info from DoDMERB to schedule the physical.

As rocatlin said, if you are an applicant to a SA you will go through Dodmerb as part of the process. If you also apply for the scholarship you would not need to go through Dodmerb again if you have already been through fo the SA application,

Hello- If my son is awarded a AROTC scholarship with 2nd or 3rd board, when is the DEoMERB exam? Do we have control over the timing? My son is on accutane for acne, but will be off it for the required 6-8 weeks before reporting to school. I am planning on stopping the drug on time by backing out the number of weeks required. If we have no control over timing, we will get involved in a DQ and a waiver situation. I would like to avoid that if possible. Thanks!

It will be in some period of time that AROTC decides it will be. They will inform you of which doctor to see for your exam and give you a deadline to have it submitted. If it were me I wouldn't chance anything and would get him off of accutane now. You might not have enough weeks available to "back up"... assuming 6-8 weeks is the required amount of time.
