So I just got back my AFOQT results from a November 21st date. I failed one section. I'm considered a 250 and I was wondering, is it possible to still get a field training slot? Can they use the SAT scores instead? Or did I just shoot myself in the foot? Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Hopefully Will I Am, Zero or Non Ducor Duco will post.

The last I knew is this:
You will have to pass the AFOQT to attend SFT, but you can be selected without passing.

However, remember that the AFOQT is a small % for the SFT/EA score. Hence, you can get selected with a low overall score.
~ You just need to make sure you are competitive everywhere else
~~EX: 3.1 non-tech, 92 PFA and top 50% rank is not where you want to be. 3.5 non-tech, 98 PFA and top 10% CoC is better.

You will have the chance to retake the AFOQT again if selected, but, you must pass the AFOQT to go...at least that is my assumption. Study ...study...study...it is like an ACT/SAT, in part it is from a time management aspect regarding answering test questions..

Yes you can be selected and go, unless they changed the rules (unlikely). You will Still be GMC even after FT till you can retake and pass the AFOQT. Be warned however, if you fail again I highly doubt you would get a waiver for the 3rd try.

How it worked this year: if you failed the AFOQT and couldn't take/pass it in time for FT, but were selected for FT, you would actually be deferred until the following year's FT. We had this happen to a cadet. We had another cadet who failed the AFOQT, but was eligible to take it again before the last encampment (MAX 5), they took it, passed it, and were able to get slotted to attend MAX 5.

edit: not sure what section you failed, but here's a website where you can take a full practice AFOQT test online. You just have to register. Or try here. I also found two practice AFOQT PDFs online. Tried to find them online but not sure where I pulled them from. I'd be happy to send you the two PDFs I have. I failed my AFOQT the first time, but my year was grandfathered in; we just needed to take/pass the AFOQT before commissioning. I took/passed it b/t 300/400 year.

This is how it was at my Det as well. It wouldn't make sense to send cadets who didn't pass because they run the risk of failing again, and that would be a waste of money.

Depends on the cadre and what they think of the situation. Talk to yours and find out.
