Academic Probation vs. Academic Suspension

Can anyone tell me exactly what academic probation entails? I know academic suspension you lose tuition for a semester but CC 145-1 does not specify what all academic probation entails. I'm concerned because I had to drop to 11 hours due to circumstances I had no control over and was placed on probation.

Have you met with your ROO or PMS yet? (I assume you are AROTC because of form CC145-1). That is your first and best course of action to take. They can give you the best advice and guidance.

Are you a scholarship cadet? If so, you are likely in jeopardy of losing your scholarship but not your stipend.

Hopefully ClarksonArmy is online and can weigh in on this.

I met with my PMS before the Christmas break to state my case because my contract was initially under review for academic suspension. Due to the information/memorandum I was able to present I was placed on probation instead.
I am also on a GFRD scholarship. I've contacted my APMS to get clarification but have not heard back.

Obviously, probation is better than suspension. Probation usually means this is your last chance! So likely you are remaining on contract and will continue to receive your GFRD beneifts for now. Probation also means that there are specific criteria that you must accomplish....an action plan of some sort.

Get some additional clarity on three things:
1. What do you have to do to get off probation? What are the goals and get them in writing.
2. Once you get off probation, how do you prevent this from happening again?
3. Excel in all things that are important to your PMS. Make sure they know that you are worth rescuing.

Be the first at PT, volunteer for ROTC EC's. etc. Are you an MS-I? Are your grades okay? Are you passing your APFT? Have you signed up for summer programs like CULP or CIET?
These are things that will help you stand out.

If you are on probation you are basically being warned. If you are under suspension you lose your scholarship benefits. Probation is supposed to be used judiciously, and I would say if you are on probation instead of suspension you should consider yourself very lucky
