Hey all, I have another quick question regarding an USMA Offer of Admission. As I anxiously wait to see my "fate" at USMA, I am constantly checking my USMA Online Admissions Profile. When the Admissions Team sends out an (hopefully) Offer of Admission, will it first appear in my USMA Online Admissions Profile, or will there be no status update and only a physical Offer of Admission in my mailbox? Thank you!!

Best way to know is when West Point Facebook admission team sends a picture with all the appointment letters! Hope to see you next year!

My UMSA grad actually had very few mailings from West Point. Once he got his nomination, the next time he heard from WP was when he received his BFE.

Thank you for your input! I can now stop crashing my computer from checking every few minutes! If you don't mind me asking, what year did your son graduate? And do you or him have any advice to a potential cadet/parent of an USMA cadet? Thank you!

My advice would be to NOT miss out on high school by obsessing over West Point. Work hard at your studies and sports and enjoy being a high school student. I wouldn't worry about LOAs either---my grad did not have an LOA, yet he received his appointment months before a girl in his class who had an LOA. In fact, she was in a panic in the spring that she would not even receive a nomination. (This was back in the good ol' rolling admissions days.) Make sure you have a solid backup plan in case you don't receive an appointment. This was one of the questions my grad was asked at a Senator's interview---"What is your plan if you don't get in West Point?"

Make sure West Point is what you want to do and that your ultimate goal is to be an officer in the United States Army. Find a retired officer and have a serious talk with him/her about what serving in the Army actually entails and pay attention. My grad's MALO came to our house and met with him for an hour alone and that's what they talked about; the MALO wanted to make sure he understood exactly what he was agreeing to. He was also fortunate to have a retired COL for a military history class and his guidance was invaluable. The needs of the Army always come first once Uncle Sam becomes your "daddy"!

Mind your associations and actions in high school---don't be in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong people. Remember, you will provide WP with a copy of your police report and fingerprints. Watch your driving too.....every spring we get panicked questions on the forum because someone was cited for some sort of traffic infraction and they wonder if they have to let West Point know.

The answer is: it depends. It seems that some get a call from MoC, some find out on the portal, and others get the BFE. Last year for my son it was call, portal, then BFE.

For those of you that found out on the portal, can you tell me where? I can't see a place on the portal where that would be listed? I have two nominations up there, but haven't heard anything else yet.

I hear that it is a blue box on the top of the page with the green circles. I do not visit the 'portal' myself--but that is what my friend told me. I can assure you that no blue boxes have appeared above green circles at this house but I hope to be fully informed if and when it does happen. Also, no BFEs and given my #3's type of nomination, there is no one to call him.

It is on the "overview" tab of the portal, on the left hand side of the page. It is a blue box and says "Offered Appointment". It is very obvious when it appears on the overview tab, you can't miss it because it something new on that page. My DD received the BFE before the portal updated.

You will have to go and look in your portal though. You do not get an email saying there has been a change and there is no update on the landing page.
Your overview page will have an offer of appointment on the left side of the page where all of your application information was on the right

Call from congressman came first. Portal updated a few days later. BFE came the same day the portal updated.

My son got the BFE sent USPS Priority in January. He had no idea it was coming. Portal updated the next day. Still undecided and waiting for NAVY appt or rejection!!
