California Nominations

nothing from Senator Boxer. DS got nom from Representative mid-December. Have you heard anything?
My daughter received an MOC nomination 12/14/15. From other posts, it looks like Senator Feinstein has made her nominations, but we are still curious to hear about Senator Boxer's nominations.

We're almost half way through January now - anyone receive an interview request or nomination from California Senator Boxer yet?

DS got MOC nom mid November. Never heard from Feinstein or Boxer. I actually heard that sometimes she does not nominate based on political views and her mood for the year. I have no idea if this is true, just something I heard, at a political fundraiser of all places.

There are an amazing number of Congressmen/women that make no Nominations. It's a small number but it does happen.

I have never heard of a Senator not filling a Nomination slate but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened.

Either they don't know or care about the opportunity they rob from their constituents.

Interesting...what a wasted opportunity for some bright young leaders...

It's a 2 sided coin. Their constituent is robbed of the opportunity but (assuming) that open appointment goes to the national pool.

So, if my assumption is true, someone gets to fill the seat at the SA.

I'm not sure what you're saying about the national pool. All those kids have to have nominations to be in the national pool, correct? And the MOC still can't have more that 5 in each SA, correct?

Boxer is a tough cookie and maybe because she is retiring this year she just doesn't nominate anyone or maybe no open spots?

Yes everyone needs a nomination unless your parent is a Medal of Honor recipient.

However, if you are nominated and don't 'win' the appointment from your nomination slate and you are 3q, you compete from the 'national' pool for remaining appointment slots

The SAs have X billets authorized headcount. I assume all authorized slots are somehow 'filled' or at least offered. (Could easily be wrong on the last paragraph)

Got some news in the nominations thread - a candidate was contacted by Boxer and told to clear his day on January 23, as phone interviews are being conducted from 8-5.

Good for you! Sounds like she's quite the character, so this is no small feat. Don't know about whether she does principals or not.
