Is it appropriate to ask your MOC if they select a Principal nominee? Or is it something that you should just not worry about?

You may be able to find out that information on your MOC website. Have you received your nomination yet? Have you received a letter from any of them? Usually, if you are the principle nominee, the MOC will let you know one way or another, either by letter or phone call. But, even if you are not chosen as the principle, all is not lost. As we discussed in the other post, if you have a nomination you can receive an appointment via a different slate. I know it is hard to wait, but worrying about something you have absolutely no control of will drive you crazy. Head out for a run and do something productive to get your mind off of things. Make sure you have your plans B, C, and D on tract and enjoy your last year of HS. Good luck and take a deep breath.

It is appropriate to ask how they nominate (principle or competitive) and how many slates they have they will be submitting.

I had the same question, so I asked the Service Academy Liaison of my MOC. He told me that they cannot disclose who was the principal nominee or whether they even chose one.

If you are curious, call your MOC office and ask to speak to them or the point person on their Nomination committee. Keep in mind the reason your MOC and their huge staffs exist is to represent and serve you and your district/state. I don't know how helpful the answer will be, honestly, but since you have your nomination already, the ball is in Admission's court now. A phone call to your MOC can't do any harm.

I don't see any problem with asking how many open spots they have to a particular SA. I would wait until after you get a Nom to ask what type of slate they are submitting. They can tell you, but they may choose not to. But at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter, you don't have any influence. Your only opportunity was to be the best you could be. Have the credentials to be at the top of the slate so you are either their principal or the SA first choice. And if not at the top, then slug it out in the national pool.

Yes it would be nice to know that you are in, I can feel your pain, but we will all know by mid April. Only a few more weeks till Noms are due, and a few more months till all those envelopes are posted. Patience, patience, patience. Keep telling yourself. It may ease the pain.
