recently, my DS hurt his shoulder in a wrestling match. Pediatrician says it is a mild AC joint separation. No surgery needed, just physical therapy. I have scheduled an appointment with an ORTHOpedic to get a second opinion. Any insight as to whether or not this will disqualify my DS? He has met all the requirements of his LOA.

With the exception of an USNA physician or DoDMERB staffer who may be on the forum, no one knows the definitive answer to that. Addtioanly, and even with an LOA, your DS is still a candidate at this juncture and hasn't been appointed yet. If and when he receives his appointemnt, he'll be asked to update his current medical condition which includes any updates since his last submission. Like it or not, you'll need to submit that and aasuming for arguments sake it's just that. probably have to submit the supporting documentation indicating "all clear" status. They'll walk you through the whole thing and what needs to be done and submitted.

At this juncture there's not much you can do except look after his health and hope for a speedy recovery. I've been down this road as well but after the appointment was rendered. Suggest you get the diagnosis confirmed, then on to PT. Stay positive, wait for the BFE and instructions and take it from there. No point point in stressing about this now...it's done....have faith it will turn out OK,

Thanks. We plan on informing Dodmerb of his status. Just waiting for documents from doc.
