Hi all, I am a new member here. I am a prior service (reservist) applying to USMA class of 2020.

I'm looking to connect with any other prior service members on the board.

Currently my entire packet (minus one part) is complete and I'm awaiting word from USMA.

I have 2 MOC nominations as well as the reserve component nomination, so my fingers are crossed.

The only part of my packet that is incomplete is the "Request for Academic Information".
They have received my official HS transcripts, that I personally requested and then submitted.
This one yellow icon won't stop my application from being looked at will it?

I'm calling today to see if a different counselor will be able to fulfill the role.

Thanks in advance.

They won't review your application for qualification until it is complete, which means, yes, that one yellow icon will stop your application from being reviewed.

Ahh! That's exactly what I didn't want to hear.
Is anyone familiar with the "Request for Academic Information"?
What is required of the recipient of the request? And how long does it take them to complete their part?

Just got off the phone with admissions team, you were correct 845.

The rep told me that it should only take a minute to fill out the form. Which makes me even angrier that my counselor has not filled it out yet....

So back to my original reason for posting - are there any other prior service applicants on here?

I would reach out to the counselor and emphasize the deadline. Some counselors are buried with requests but are not aware of how challenging and time sensitive a service academy application is.
My DS did not have any issue with his counselor because the counselor was a military brat: she "got it."

However, my DS's English teacher was another story.

My DS emailed both PDF info on USNA and a copy of the MOC nomination article from the newspaper to his English teacher to emphasize (politely) what an honor this was and thanking him in advance for completing the form.

It helped push things along.

Wow thanks for sharing. I'm glad he's out touring and trying to get more active duty applicants. I've met a number of soldiers who I believe would be competitive if they applied, but have no encouragement and don't really care themselves.

For the benefit of Westpoint and the Army, I hope all qualified candidates apply. But as an applicant myself, it is still a competition.

It bothers, so unless you are no longer a reservist, you are not a prior service. Suppose you could have finished your reserve obligation and no longer participating, but that will make me wonder about your age.

Hello,

I am a prior service applicant to Class of 2020 also! Currently serving overseas as AD. I received my LOA back in October but I haven't heard or seen any update on my official appointment yet.

********UPDATE

I just checked my "Overview" online and I finally received my appointment to the class.

How did you get a LOA as prior service? Are you AD or RC/NG? Also what was your ACT?

I received my LOA through a mail that was sent to my parents' house. I am AD and my ACT overall was a 31 w/ Math being the highest (33)
