Anybody else Accepted to NAPS?

I am one of those old guys, but anyone set up a Facebook page for NAPS Class of 2020? Might be a good place to start. I am sure there are some previous classes on there too.

All those that received appt to NAPS, can you please post your stats, (GPA, leadership, etc) so we know who is getting accepted? Thanks and...

GO NAVY!

I would love to help but I'm an enlisted applicant so it's a little different for us ! Goes mostly off of our military accomplishments .

Asking those accepted to NAPS to post their stats, in order to figure out how the Admission Board makes these determinations is absolutely useless. (1) No candidates should be pressured into sharing their statistics. (2) Having this information will only lead to..."well my child had those same or better stats and should have been offered a spot." (3) NAPS has a different objective and thus the candidates sent there are selected for many different reasons, none of which anyone on here can predict.

In your experience sir how are the FB Pages usually created ? Or rather whom are they created by ?

I understand what NAPs is and the purpose of it, but out of curiosity how does one get accepted there? Is it just a matter of the Academy offering you a spot if you are not given a direct appointment?

Generally, the Admissions Board makes this determination...which means that the candidate was not scholastically qualified...which also means they aren't eligible to compete for an appointment. For Facebook, anyone can make an unofficial page.

I know it is not required, but does it help the admissions board consider a "low on the scholastically qualified spectrum" candidate for NAPS if she has a congressional nom?

The Admissions Board does not even look at nominations, so the answer is no...either way.

There are FB pages set up for parents and midshipman candidates (students)
Search
NAPS Class of 2017 - parents only
NAPS Class of 2017 - midshipman candidates only

The official FB page of the school is
Naval Academy Preparatory School.

Also, in this forum go to "other service academy discussion" and you will find a thread just for the prep programs. Lots of great information!

Ma'am, thank you so much ! I can't find the group though on FB though . Would you mind attaching link ?

When do most civilian applicants tend to find out whether they were accepted to NAPS / Foundation? I read that it could be as late as May which seems like it would be challenging when balanced with the deadlines at other schools.

I got mine beginning of January (and im civilian btw). Because appointment to NAPS is independent from the appointment to USNA, the time can be completely varies by candidates.

How did you guys get notification? I though they send the letters out the same time they send letters of appointment?

While you may to choose to join any number of FB or other forums, our experience was the same information gets discussed here as well. It just a matter of how many different places you want to read about similar topics. Supposedly secret information on some websites was being discussed openly here so we never saw the point of all those other forums. Whichever one you choose to join, do NOT post personally identifiable information regardless of how 'closed' they claim the membership is.
