DD has received nominations from both senators and her congressman. BGO indicated that DD is also 3'Q. Status still has "Complete Pending Review", just as it has for months. Does getting a nomination from all the sources you applied to increase chances of appointment?

Sorry but not even the BGO knows who is 3Q. If they told you that they were wrong!!!!
You only need one nomination to get in my daughter had only the congressional nomination and received appt. So NO it doe s not increase chances, however it does give the Academy more slots to place this candidate.

Actually parent, that isn't true. BGOs know who, of their candidates, are triple and fully qualified. BGOs are not allowed to inform candidates of their scholastic qualification.

It isn't hard to know if a candidate is triple qualified. If they know their grades, SAT scores, and did exceptional of the CFA as well as passed the medical review isn't it obvious

No, it is not obvious. To be triple qualified is to (1) pass the CFA (2) pass the DODMERB physical or have a waiver (3) be "academically" qualified by the Admissions Board. The term "academically qualified" really means everything else other than (1) and(2) meaning Math and English teacher's recommendation, BGO interview, high school academic grades, sports participation, extracurricular activities, etc. and everything that would give the Admissions Board a picture of the candidate. If the Board feels the candidate is short in any of those areas, they are not "academically qualified". The term is what is misleading you.

It is easier to understand if the term "scholastically qualified" is used, which is actually what the Admissions Board uses. Its not just academics, and they make that known by using the term scholastic.

^^ Agreed that is part of the reason no one on here can 'chance' anyone regardless of how many times it gets asked. We don't know what the teacher evaluations might say and don't know the specific weights applied to sports, ECA's.....etc.

The more you understand the process, the LESS likely you are to fling out replies to the many 'chance me' threads.

That must be new because in a conversation with Superintendent Carter on the USNA match Wolverine he told me that was not the case. I would wonder how a BGO would know the academic qualifications the admissions board is looking for and also what the teacher recommendations say about the candidate. Suffice to say the USNA does not tell anyone that they are 3Q'd even the BGO!

As usnabog08 already said, you are incorrect. In our portal, we see the status of each candidate's medical, physical and board qualification. Usnabgo08 was also correct in saying that was are asked not to inform candidates of their Board qualification status.

And also, the correct term for the 3rd "Q" is Board Qualification, not Academic or Scholastic.

suddensam is right that the term used by USNA is actually "Board," but that would also mean there is no "Physical" since that is officially listed as "CFA." At the end of the day, as long as you know that the Admissions Board reviews record for the "whole person" (and not just academics), that is the point.

Suddensam really got me on this. I immediately went to the BGO Handbook and there it is: "Admissions Board....Qualification"
I picked up the "Academic Qualification" from hanging around here. Must be an Air Force thing. I gotta blame it on something.

Don't worry mom, I would like to think if your daughter received 2 noms than she must be top student:) think very hard to get Senator nom. I am sure your portal will change soon to LOA to appointment, hang in there, think positive:)

To reply to the original post: same situation here with three nominations and portal status still showing "complete pending review". You're not alone!

The number of nom does help you in only that it gives Admissions options as to slot you against 3 different sources. Remember each MOC is allocated/charged no more than 5 at a time to him or her. Congratulations on the getting the noms! Now phase 2 of the rollercoaster ride begins...lol
