This is kind of a stupid question, and one that I'm sure there's no definite answer too, but I thought I'd give it a shot.

My DS got an large manila envelope in the mail yesterday, sent from the academy admissions office. Currently my DS isn't in town, and I don't really want to open it for him, but I'm really curious as to what might be inside. He checks his portal everyday to see if there's anything new, but there is no offer of appointment on there yet.

Plain manila envelope, maybe 5-10 pages inside, and nothing on it besides the address sticker. Has anyone else been receiving these, or received them in the past?

He may have gotten a calendar lol. I recently received one but I'm not sure what it was in because my mom handed it to me when got home from school

Talk about torture! :)

I think the calendars came in a manila envelope, or white, can't remember now, but either way USAFA doesn't send a BFE anymore so its not that.

Snail mail is not going to be the way he finds out. Phone call from an MoC or his portal will change before he gets anything in the mail. Sorry, but I am going with it is a calendar.

Got the mysterious big envelope in the mail today....stuffed with a calendar! Happy for the forums to know not to get too excited!

You'd think calendars would be sent out in November so they could be used starting Jan 1st....

Yup, probably a calendar. That happened to me last year, too, as well as most of the other applicants. I still remember the "calendar thread"...

Based on previous years (and SAF appointment threads), I am guessing most appointments will go out on March 11 or March 18 (or right around then). It seems so far away...trust me, I know...I'm waiting for that same date too :shake:...but it will get here faster than you/DS (or I) think (41 days after today, to be exact ). Good luck to you!

I seem to be looking forward to those dates too... Right around March 12th or so...

My son got a calendar a few weeks ago. He thought it was a summer seminar packet. He had submitted his application for ss the day before. LOL. We had to explain to DS it takes longer than 24 hours to get an acceptance letter.

Good Luck with Recognition! My DS is ready too!

It's the calendar. USAFA is fully digital and will NOT send any other documents by mail. All of the forms required for I Day will be in the portal.

We really need a sticker somewhere that says TWE does not exist anymore.

I received an offer of appointment online... will nothing come in the mail? I know in the past appointees have received an official certificate.

The TWE had all of the documents you had to submit: security clearance, vaccines, glasses prescription if required, uniform sizes, etc. All of that is now done through the website.

The way you get your certificate varies. I know in some states they are given out at awards nights at the high schools. In the greater NY area and Long Island, we have a brunch where all the appointees receive their certificate. Parents, current cadets, ALOs are all present. What I'm saying it all depends on where you are. The parents group might be able to tell you or your ALO.

Yep, it was a calendar. Glad you guys were here to make sure I didn't get my hopes up to high, lol.

Wait a minute, some kids are getting calendars with 12 pages?!? Calendars that run January to December, including a leap day in February? Could someone post those stats for the 12 pager recepients?

Just kidding of course; great comment.
