ACT with Writing

Do you know if the CGA will only accept the ACT with writing? My daughter received good scores, but didn't take the writing section. Should she take the next SAT with writing?

Thanks! Come to find out, her October SAT did include a writing component (although her scores weren't as strong as her ACT scores), so she is covered.

I must say, the USCGA seems to be a hidden jewel - it looks like a beautiful, small school with fascinating opportunities and adventures that rival the USNA...

With my experience as a high school principal, I have enjoyed watching young men and women accept appointments to various military academies as well as enlisted who return and share stories of strengths and challenges they face from each branch.

Having lived in Kodiak, AK for four years, my DS was fortunate to be around many Coasties and USCGA was his #1 choice. After two visits to the campus, he wanted this appointment even more. He liked the small campus and the summer training opportunities. Getting to play football was icing on the cake...

In a recent flight to New London, the airlines pilot shared that he was a graduate of the Air Force Academy and was a retired AF pilot and his son was 2/C at USCGA and chose it over the Air Force. He said, in retrospect, he wished his son had been given the scholars (prep school) option because his roommate was given this option and was better prepared for the academy.

Full appointment, prep school, officer candidate school...no matter the route, opportunities exist for women and men who want to serve and protect our great nation as officers in the various military branches. I take every chance I get to thank them for their service and sacrifice.

Yeah, I am not sure if they will superscore unless you take writing with all of your ACT. But, I am counting that they will, bc I only took writing once bc I did so well. Hopefully they superscore no matter what or I am not getting in. I hope someone has the answer.

YES, CGA Superscores. You must submit at least one ACT result that includes the writing assessment.

As far as I know, the SAT always includes writing. For the ACT, writing is optional, so for USCGA you must take it with writing at least once. (I am interpreting what grevar^ said)

Serve.USA is correct. It's an add-on option when registering for ACT. Other than the obvious test differences, the big one is writing is at the end of ACT, but beginning of SAT.

As of 1/23/16, the SAT will now only include writing if you opt into it as you do for the ACT. New SAT test format in March 2016.
