I've heard rumors your portal will show before you receive any confirmation or denial in the mail. Is there any truth to this? I know there is also the option of your nominating source notifying you. Which is most common or does it vary in all cases?

I believe that most of the appointments this year have shown in the portal first with no warning shot (email). Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

My portal was updated with my status and my Congressman's office knew as well. I did not get an email. No BFE yet.

Probably works better than in my pre Internet days. . . I actually received the invitation to Orientation (reserved for principal appointees) before I received my notice of appointment. But snail mail could have been the culprit. . . yeat, that has to be it. . . but they also misspelled my name on my diploma, too. . .
