Hello,

I submitted my application for the NROTC scholarship back in August and the AFROTC scholarship in November. Navy is my number one choice and I truly feel like I put a lot of effort into my application. My recruiter told me that the boards meet approx. once a month and release results soon after. I received the AFROTC scholarship in early December about 3 weeks after my interview. I have been under the assumption that you do not get notified if you are not selected by the Navy board. However, after reading some forums, it looks the Navy has been notifying people if they were not selected to be reboarded. With that said, is no news good news at this point?

No news is not necessarily good news but it's no bad news either. No news means your till in the running for a scholarship on one of the upcoming boards. Many people in your position will still not be selected and may not hear about that until early to mid-April. Keep working alternate plans including participating as a college programmer (although I assume you'll go AF if you don't get Navy).

Thank you for the reply. I guess I was just getting a little unnerved because I applied for Navy so early and still haven't heard anything whereas it took the Air Force 3 weeks for a reply. But I suppose it's hard to compare the two as they use different systems for selection.

Another thought to consider: many students who apply for the ROTC scholarship also apply for a SA nom/appointment. As appointments are just starting to roll out, it may be that those who may have received an ROTC scholarship and who choose SA over ROTC will let go of their scholarship, thus making more spots available. Just a thought... good luck!!!!
