Hello, I'm currently a 4-year contracted MS1 cadet who missed the CULP deadline this year by 1 week. This summer I'm most likely attending CIET in Fort Knox, Kentucky, but next summer, 2017, I plan on applying for CULP and attending wherever I can, I would love to go anywhere with the Army and learn as much as possible. My question is, as I research online, I cannot really find descriptions of what happens in each country, so can someone just give me descriptions about what you do at the countries you know of, what are the most popular/least popular countries requested, competitiveness, etc. Any information about the CULP program would help. Thank you!

Many of the CULP missions have their own Facebook pages. Websites for a number of battalions also contain reports by cadets who have participated in CULP missions. Finally, cadets from your battalion who have previously participated in CULP are good resources. Remember that the countries may change from year to year.

Also not to be a nay-sayer but honestly the mission in each country doesn't really matter. To my understanding it can change even more frequently than the destinations offered through the program. You get to select which region you would prefer and what kind of mission you would prefer. So for example Africa humanitarian or Europe mil to mil. From what I have heard if you want to work with other militaries you should request Europe. There are some mil to mil in Asia like Mongolia and probably some in Africa as well. I would imagine Africa is also heavier on the humanitarian work.

The only real indicator of where you might go is if you request a region that fits with your language skill set. For example Africa, any mission type, advanced French speaker. But don't get excited, plenty of people who are fluent in useful languages still get sent random places sometimes. If you have one country in mind, CULP is not for you. If you are hungry for any experience I'm sure you will love it.
