The wife thought to check Congressman Pittenger's website today and discovered 4 appointments from NC-09 announced by his office. One football appointment and 3 others, two college freshmen and a HS senior. Of course this was disheartening news as our DS only has a nom from Congressman Pittenger...

So are we done and just waiting for the TWE or is there still a possibility?

He sent 2 last year and now 4 this year so the MoC charging process is bizarre....

Discouraged in NC.....

I'd imagine there is still a possibility. It's possible that the football player, along with some of the other kids were given LOAs. If your congressman has a principal nominee ranking system it is more than possible for more than one person in the district to get an appointment (because as long as the kids with LOA's are given a nomination they are appointed, while the congressman can still use his principal slot to allow another candidate to be appointed). Could the college freshman be prep students, where USNA would "find" them nominations? Also, North Carolina has a high military population so it is possible some of those appointments could have been charged to the presidential slate.

The two college freshmen were out of Clemson and NC State. I expect the other was an LOA and I expect the Football player got an LOA as well. I'm not sure if the he uses the principal system. My son doesn't think so.

I would not doubt if the two college freshman received ROTC nominations. If your congressman uses a principal system there is still a shot for your son to be charged to his slate assuming he was a principal nomination. Otherwise there is still the national pool which will give him another shot. At this point I reckon no news is good news, so I'm still holding on to that. I too am waiting on any news to come out of my district but it looks like nothing has... Although from what I understand my district is relatively uncompetitive as only 15ish nominations were given out for all of the service academies combined.

Thanks. There are a 1000 threads here on the nom charging process so we are just going to take a deep breath and be patient. :)

Remember it's not over until the TWE arrives.

My DS is not on the forum. His attitude is...I've done the best I can now it's in God's and the Academy's hands.

I made myself crazy in the beginning before and during the nomination process. You read some of these profiles, hear of candidates appointed before our noms were submitted (theirs obviously were out earlier), LOAs, it gets overwhelming!

Fortunately he has an awesome BGO who said to us, unsolicited I might add, be prepared for the long wait. A small handful will hear early but don't expect to hear until March, late March. He advised our DS to do his best to not think about it and enjoy his Sr. Year.

So, his Type A Mom is still lurking on the forum, occasionally commenting, but refusing to open or read the appointment thread! Knowing someone from our state or district has an appointment and not knowing who it was charged to will just stress me out! So, deep breaths and enjoy this time with my DS!

Good advice and a great attitude. Wait and pray. Good luck to your DS.
