My son got MOC nomination and a Senator nomination to USAFA back in Nov, but we still haven't heard anything:( (OH 15)
Has anyone else in our district heard anything?

Does USAFA send a "no thank you" notice, if so, when and how do they notify you?

Sorry, we are impatient like everyone else having to apply to other colleges and constant scholarship apps

If you look at last year’s appointment thread it shows 2 appointments from Ohio were made on Monday March 16th via calls from MOC. Past history of appointment threads can give you some idea as to your States appointments. History seems to repeat itself, however as others will chime in here there is no way to really know. At least in Ohio your nominations came out in November. In my State both MOC nominations came out about 2 weeks ago. My application was finished in July! While I have an appointment to a SA now, I wait for my first choice to notify me. Good luck to you and your son.

It is hard to wait, but wait you must. The academies notify appointees with no regard to how anxious the applicants are. The class is filling up, but not full. When it is full they will send out letters with the bad news. At this point, no news is not bad news. Expect a final batch in early May. Good luck.

Barnett2020,
I can tell you from firsthand experience, the wait really does suck. This time last year I had thought there was no way USAFA was going to give me an appointment after seeing all of these people on SAF starting to post about their appointments.

Now I'm 22 days away from recognition. Hang in there. I can't guarantee an appointment, but I can tell you getting appointed in March/April is very normal. And as some other posters said, sometimes May.
I happen to be the DS of one of the two who posted an appointment from OH on 16 March as listed on the thread last year, so I felt inclined to make an account and reply (I have been reading SAF on and off for a few years now, but haven't ever bothered to post anything).

I'm not District 15, so I don't know much about the very specifics of your area, but I do know Ohio gets a solid amount of appointments every year.

Lastly, I also had an MOC and Senator nom, and the fact that your DS has a Senator nom from Ohio would tell me that he has a pretty good chance of getting an appointment. But like I said, I can't guarantee anything.

Thank you for your post, the information has helped put us at ease a bit:) hopefully my DS will see you next year

I received 2 nominations, one from a MOC and the other from Senator Portman. I have not heard from the academy yet. Patiently waiting for the March appointments to be announced... (OH-4)

We are from OH-6. DS had noms from Rep. Johnson and Sen. Portman. He got calls from both around mid-March. Thats when the "big wave" of appointments comes out. From our experience, the MoC's like to call in Ohio to inform of offer of appointment, even before your portal will update. It is tough to be patient but you're in the game all the way up to I-Day. I wish all fellow Ohioans the best! Hope a big wave hits Ohio soon!

Barnett2020: I tried to PM you but was not allowed. I think you need to have 5 posts before you can PM. If you will post one more time I will send you a message. Thanks.

Thank you for your information. I did hear from Stivers office rep that he personally calls about the appointments. I'm not sure about Sherrod Brown, but he received a nomination from each.

I have posted, if you want to try again with the message.

Where a NOM is issued can be different from where the SA charges it. I wouldn't worry too much about who from your district might already have an appointment posted on here since everyone does not use this forum. Candidates may never find out where their NOM was charged and at the point you get an appointment, it really doesn't matter. If you haven't yet gotten the TWE, you are still in the running.

Thanks for the post, but my DS did receive an appointment and is well on his way to completing all of the paperwork needed
