Possible Silly Question

So right now I have a Letter of Assurance from the USNA. My medical Remedial AMI was sent by mail two days ago, and so in a week or two I should get the results, which I am expecting will deem me medically qualified. Once I am medically qualified I am guaranteed an Offer of Appointment, which I am going to accept without hesitation.

My silly question is should I go on an unofficial visit to the USNA before this happens? I have not visited it yet. I have a CVW on the last weekend of April, but I will most likely be Appointed before then.

The reason why I am asking is because I know that the life at the USNA and that of service in the US Navy is one I truly want to live. It has been my own personal and private dream to serve since I was in first grade, and the USNA gives me a chance to fulfill that dream as well as pursue my education, which akso also very important to me. If I know that this is what I want to do, should I have to visit like with a normal college, to get the vibe of the school?

Forgive me for seeming so forward and arrogant. I really hate sounding like that guy who says, "Oh yeah, I already know I'm in." But the way things have played out, I am very hopeful and even certain my dream is about to come true.

Thank you for any advice.

Unless it is a financial hardship, yes go visit. I think experiencing campus and getting a feel for USNA before I Day will be nothing but helpful!

You will quickly learn to say GO NAVY- BEAT ARMY! Go if you can. I would suggest a visit to Admissions (you might want to contact them first and not hit them cold). With a LOA they might be able to get you into Mother B the regular tour will not get you in. Good Luck.

What is Mother B...?
And thank you for the correction!

Are you asking if you should visit twice, once now and then CVW in late April? I would say no, you can accept an appointment now, go to the CVW in April and if for some unlikely reason you decide you hate it you could decline your appointment afterwards.

You've said that you plan to accept an appointment no matter what, and that being a Naval officer is what you want to do more than anything. Why go twice?

You might be able to go for a drag weekend if they are not full. My son did two Drag weekends, one the spring of his Junior Year and one after he received his appointment.

"Drag Weekend" is when you go and get to stay overnight and get "Dragged" around everywhere your assigned Plebe goes. It is actually a Thurs- Sat Morning not really a weekend. Call admissions and see if they have any space left.

LDH, Op already has a CVW slated for late April. If you live close enough to drive and visit, go for it. If you receive a waiver and appointment, you have some time to wait and accept. The CVW will be much more insightful than the standard visit. If doing a day visit is really expensive, then I say wait for the CVW.
