Self-Prep for USNA appointment - post-secondary Military Prep School recommendations?

Hi Everyone,

I'm focusing this question on self-prep at post-secondary military preps schools (military junior colleges) with the goal of a USNA appointment the following year. Anyone have an idea which schools:

*are more highly favored by the USNA as a self-prep program and why?
*yield the highest % of appointments after that self-prep year?

I've heard good things about a prep in Texas called Greystone. The stats from their site say 98.9% of their students receive a scholarship that leads to a commission and 75% of non-sponsored candidates earn an appointment to a service academy.

I have not only heard about it but my son went to Greystone and is GREAT it was the best decision he made. He even receive Two nominations one form west Point and from the Navy, He is in his second year at the Naval Academy. My husband and I loved the program and Commander Bailey. Please check it out they offer a weekend stay for prospective candidates and the hill country is beautiful. Greystone e comes highly recommended from our family.

The USNA foundation program has a list of approved schools. Those schools obviously have stood out to USNA for their ability to prepare candidates for admission to USNA. Because they send foundation kids their it also means those schools know the requirements not only academically and physically but Noms. They know the deadlines and ensure time is built in to accomplish these things. You need to review each school and if it meets your needs. Also a free agent you need to really look at the stats for successful appointments. Foundation success rates for appointments should be and are often much much higher than free agents.

For what it's worth, DS was waitlisted for USNA, so he was told that he was in the next ~100 who didn't receive an appt that year. We had also discussed MMI prep with him however his RC advised him to attend a 4 year Uni and mimick plebe courses. He had an ROTC scholarship so that was a possible route for him. Anyway.....he ended up at USAFA and is thriving.

I knew 8 preps from NMMI that received an appointment this last year for the class of 2020

Thanks...DS is enrolled at MMI for the fall - also a USNA foundation school. Great for USCGA and USMMA as well. I've heard great things about NMMI as well...
