Is there anyone on the forum that has been through or knows someone that has been through MIT AFROTC, and if so, would you mind sharing your/their experiences?

I'm interested in applying, but I'd like to know how their AFROTC detachment compares to others.

If it helps to know, I'd like to major in Aerospace Engineering-Astrophysics and fly fighters for the AF, then one day (hopefully) become a NASA astronaut. In addition to MIT, I'm applying to USAFA and Texas A&M.

I have a friend there currently, they're a cross-town with Harvard also. It seems like they have a solid AFROTC detachment, albeit very small. I think they have 20-30 cadets. My friend also said that most of the MIT cadets are 5-year engineering majors. They do have an Arnold Air Society squadron. I really don't know much more than that, but I think they work with the Boston University detachment some since it's significantly larger. I could possibly get more information if you have specific questions, but I think visiting it would be your best bet!

It sounds like somewhere I'd like to be; a significantly different experience from the TAMU Corps of Cadets which is massive. I don't have any specific questions, but I'll schedule a visit and go check it out for myself. Thanks for the info, brother!
