DS applied. Got a confirmation on the site after he hit 'submit'. No email follow up, no link to a portal.

Is this the process? Correct that now he just waits (patiently )?

The portal becomes available when you become an official candidate. If you are accepted to NASS then you automatically become one. For me at least I was notified by email that I was accepted to NASS and then later in the year I received mail with all the information about continuing the application process and accessing the portal.

Just wait it out. I applied in early February and got my acceptance e-mail in late February.

Just want to put my own two cents in, if anybody doesn't get a NASS acceptance or is one of those people who gets it the last week before the deadline, don't freak out or think your chances are shot. I was a 3-time rejected applicant for STEM and got my NASS acceptance the last week possible (I applied within 2 days of the application opening), but still managed to get an LOA, all 3 congressional noms, and will be at I-day on June 30 barring any injury. Not tooting my own horn, just saying stay the course and don't get discouraged because I know I poured over every NASS forum post last year for months freaking out because I hadn't gotten accepted yet.

And just saying, if you're Echo 43 at NASS, yal better be the best :)

Thanks for posting this! My son applied to NASS and hasn't heard back. He is starting to worry. He got into USAFA summer seminar and Boys State. He has been invited on a CVW at Naval Academy. It reassures me (and him) when we see it's not the end of the world if he doesn't get into NASS.

Getting the CVW already indicates he's a top applicant so that's great. I attended CVW in Jan before the SS apps went in. I still haven't heard anything either. Going to USAF SS June 18 though, so I'm happy about that! Also doing a sports camp at USNA June 26. You will love the CVW!

Not getting accepted to NASS means next to nothing. My sons friend in the article I posted last week has been accepted to all 3 of the major SA's but was turned down for Navy SS.

Go to the AF website and watch some of the videos they post of their SS. Not trying to be mean, but realistically many of those kids have next to zero chance of getting in. I saw several boys in the videos that couldn't do a single pushup. Others that could only do the cheater pushups on their knees. Many of those kids are clearly there for bragging rights and are in very poor condition.

To me, and I'm no expert, being invited to the CVW is a bigger deal.

No news yet on NASS but my son is really looking forward to his CVW in March. Anyone else going with their DS/DD March 24th?

FYI - Mids get back from Spring Break on 3/20. Their level of saltiness (IHTFP) may vary for CVW.
