Hello, I am all done with all my papers, my status on the top part is still App on file. I have finished DODmerb, CFA, and I have nomination from a Senator. Do admissions update it every week? does it just say qualified or denied or something else? thanks

App on file in Oct changed to hold in December - DS got a letter in Jan that said HOLD - NWL (national waiting list) We have been told that means that his file has been reviewed but they are waiting until all of the applications are in before making a decision and/or all of the available seats for our state have been filled and they need to find a spot for him. If you do a search in the USMMA forum there are lots of threads which address the App on File/hold/principal progression. It's different for everyone. I read one where a candidate went from app on file to hold to principal in one day. I am thankful that I don't have access to his USMMA portal particularly in the coming weeks.

Any idea when the earliest and latest someone would hear if they are not accepted? Would they learn of this thru the portal or thru USPS mail first?

Anytime between now and May. Looking through prior year threads late march there is a lot of action, fewer in April and less so in May. Rejections most likely in April Most likely a portal change and then the package comes via FedEx but who knows! Hold tight and good luck!

I am hoping to find out soon so I could think about going in to my plan B and C. still app on file

Personally, I already started setting my Plan B in motion while waiting to find out whether or not I made the KP cut. Once I found out that I was appointed, I then cancelled Plan B. . .

I did sign up for my orientations for my plan B and C. Keeping my fingers crossed and praying

My DD is recruited athlete. We are having hard time doing plan B and C because we don't want to lead other colleges on.... She gets contacted several times a week by colleges. Any suggestions on how to handle that? Supposedly she is "top recruit/impact player" at usmma, and has all qualifying scores. But I am sweating it until we know for sure.

Don't worry about leading other colleges on. Not at all. Everyone deserves to have a back up plan and everyone must take time to plan. Maybe some of the forum "wise-ones" cmakin, draft, jasperdog, kpengineer, tacticalnuke, really any Moderator, have some ideas on how to hold a conversation when colleges come-a-callin.

We were in the same position last year. My DS was being heavily recruited for football---We were waiting on UMSSA, yet still going through the motions of meeting with college coaches, etc (in case USMMA did not work out). It was a very stressful time. Other coaches were asking for a commitment...we were afraid we were going to loose a sure thing, and not get USMMA. My son was offered Prep school, and he is there now. He turned down many scholarships, and it was the absolute best choice! He did call back the coaches, and let them know he choose USMMA. All of the coaches were very nice, and said they completely understood (and were impressed)! Good Luck!

Thank you. That helps a lot. DD THINKS she will get USMMA but as a mom Ihave to be sure. When did USMMA suggest prep school? She's not opposed to doing that as well.

My son was offered prep school in March. We were told if a spot opened that he would go directly into USMMA. Spot didnt open, so he went Prep. Speak to her coach, and let the coach know your position. Prep was the best thing for my son---very happy he was given this opportunity!!!

I just received my appointment last Thursday to KP. This is my second year applying because last year I did not get the appointment. I was notified that I did not get the appointment in mid march. Universities are very lenient when it comes to later commitments through my experiences so don't worry about that because KP is where we want to be. Also, I emailed the usmma admissions and they gave me a specific contact info for the guy who handled my application specifically. These people know exactly what is going on with your applications so try to contact them to get your name in their heads as they go into the final board here in the next week or two. I got a hold of the commander who handled my application and he gave me all of the info I wanted. He told me when they were going to evaluate, and the day after, I called him and he told me that I got the appointment despite the fact that I still haven't received the formal letter. However, my online application reads Principal Fully Qualified, which is what you'll want to see. If I have any advice here, it's 3 things.
1. Contact your admission representative specifically if they'll give it to you.
2. Don't worry about your next options. I committed to my current university and accepted my national ROTC scholarship in late april and everything was fine.
3. If you don't get the appointment, do well in your first semester in college, and reapply. No university matches KP upon graduation!

Sounds exactly like what my boy went through. Such a stressful time for these kids. They've worked so hard to get to this point. Hang in there parents.

I don't think we found out until the end of March/early April. Hang in there. It's tough on our children (and us), but it will be worth it. Good luck.

If I was your daughter I would just be forthright with the other schools and tell them that while athletics are important to me, my future after college is more so.. and that's why I'm choosing KP.. As the old NCAA commercial used to say "There are over 400,000 NCAA student-athletes, and most of us will go pro in something other than sports."
