my son had a dislocated arm at 6years old. DODMERB rejected, so we're hoping for a waver. Anyone else in the same boat? Super anxious! No mail today because it's President's day. Praying for the best.

No one knows for certain as each waiver is evaluated separately. If I had to put a guess on it... If he is submitted for a waiver he would be fine. Remember they only submit those who are deemed competitive for a waiver. So guessing if he has a nom and is 3Q (which you wouldn't necessarily know) you should be submitted for one.

Thanks, he has nom and is at least 2Q (not sure on the medical). The wait is awful...

You can always call (obviously, not today) the USNA Admissions medical staff to inquire about the waiver process and if your son is being considered for one.

My DoDMERB results have been in for about two weeks. I'm qualified for West Point and USAFA but I haven't heard anything for USNA. On my DoDMERB portal under Navy it says I am "disqualified" because my "distant visual acuity is not correctable to 20/20 in each eye;" however, it says that it is "pending a waiver submission/ review".

So my question is, am I disqualified or not? Those are two contradictory statements. Do I have to just sit and wait while they decide whether or not to grant me a waiver? If so, When will I hear?

Thanks!

DoDMERB and Waivers are two separate processes. DoDMERB is independent of the SA's and they either qualify, request a remedial, or DQ. DoDMERB has nothing to do with the waiver process itself.
A waiver is done at the SA or ROTC level. They cannot begin a process to request a waiver until a DQ is determined.

Will USNA tell me if they decide not to grant me a waiver?
