One of the mundane duties that my son has is too task soldiers to organize "events" for his company for holiday weekends. A lot soldiers don't have the money to go home for the long weekends especially with wives and children. The soldier is budgeting funds for things like bowling, movies etc so the Company soldiers have something to look forward to on their long weekends. They look for area events and provide transportation from the base. Last Memorial Day a relatively new soldier got creative. He saw that Taylor Swift had a concert nearby and called her publicist. He explained who he was and asked for tickets for the show. The publicist said' "sure and how many do you need?" The soldier said, "150 tickets." The publicist said, "sure." Since some of the Company's soldiers left the area for the holiday the remaining soldiers got to bring their wives and kids. The soldier who organized the event who was hardly known by anybody is now held in high regard by everyone in the Company. It was also very nice of Taylor Swift and her publicist to provide ten thousand dollars worth of tickets.
