My DD will be attending AFSS June 12-17 then will be going to the AF Sports camp June 19-24. Does anyone know if there would be the possibility of her staying at the Academy or would I have to figure out lodging for her for the 17th and 18th? Just like everyone else…trying to get June all figured out!!

My DS did back to back sports camps at the USNA one summer. They were adamant that he could not stay on campus in between camps. There are liability issues. I am sure that the AFA would make your DD find other accommodations.

Thats what I was thinking. Makes it tough when parents are 9 hrs away but we will figure it out. I'm sure there is a shuttle that we can get for her to take her to a hotel and back to the camp. Oh the many things to think about!!! But all so very well worth it that's for sure!!

Son did back to back sports camps last year. He stayed at Academy Hotel nearby. Son flew solo to Colorado Springs. Fortunately my husband flew up from Texas at end of week and rented a car and stayed with him during those 2 days. My husband flew into Denver and rented a car there. The Colorado Springs flights were nearly double the price.

Son is also going to summer seminar this year.

I didn't think that you could do SS if you had participated in their sports camps?? My daughters have been going for a couple of years now and we assumed they couldn't do SS. It would be great news if they can.

I attended the cross country sports camp at USAFA last year (stated that on my application for SS) and I got accepted to SS.

When it comes down to it…I'm sure I'll do exactly what your husband did. I will be so excited to hear the events of SS that I won't be able to stand it!!

Son/husband had great weekend in Colorado Springs. It was Fathers Day weekend last year. Camps let out early on Friday. They have a short closing ceremony for parents. They spent afternoon exploring parts of campus open to public. On Saturday they went up Pikes Peak and had a great father/son weekend. Academy Hotel was very nice.

What SS session will your DS be attending? My DD's is the 12-17….. I'm so excited for these amazing kiddos!!

My DD Sports camp is the 19-24, then home for a day and off to MO Girls State!! Busy Busy June! Best of Luck to you DS!!
Good luck to your daughter as well. Son is still hoping to hear from USNA for summer seminar week 1 June 4-9. Then the month of June will be complete. :)

I do not know if we will be in the springs at that time, but if not you might want to inquire about others in the USAFA sponsor parent program. We are all screened by the USAFA to interact with Cadets and bring them into our lives and home. There might be a sponsor family who would be willing to let your DD stay with them during the break. We are used to shuttling kids back and forth. While your DD is not a Cadet or even a candidate yet, if ever, this might be an avenue you could explore!

Thank you! I might give the Academy a call closer to June and see if sponsors are available for this type of situation. Thanks again!
