National Pool Time?

so I've been stalking the threads and it seems as though they take anywhere from 300-400 from the national pool. Are the kids who didn't get a TWE yesterday the ones they are considering? Does anyone have a clue how many are left with "Complete Pending Review"?
 
No, TWE is the end of the road. None of us here know how many are left.
 
I'm not sure about your numbers as I doubt that 300-400 come out of the national pool. They have the Naps and foundation kids yet so that's about 325 candidates.

I was under the impression NAPs and foundation still have to compete for all nomination sources also but then also qualify for another one that HS don't . Looking at last years class portrait, 380 were NAPs and Foundation but if you look at Nom sources almost 80% are MOC.
 
NAPS Midshipman Candidates are encouraged to pursue MOC nominations, but in the event they do not receive one, they are charged to the Secretary of the Navy. On the other hand, Foundation Cadets (Using the Prep Schools' vernacular) must go through their MOC. NAPS MIDN Candidates are actually enlisted into the USNR, so that's what gives them the ability to receive a SECNAV nomination.

I did not receive a nom to USNA but I am still shooting for NAPS/Foundation. My portal still says "complete Pending Review". No news is good news, right?

Emphasis mine.

That number startled me. Almost one-third from "non-high school" kids.
 
Nominating categories "Children of deceased or disabled veterans 44" is that the number who applied or the number accepted? My son is a high school freshman and I am 100% disabled.. We are trying to get a feel for how selective it will be for him. Thanks to anyone who can provide some insight.

This is the number of applicants who had a nomination under this category, but this does not mean that 46 were given appointments. These same 46 applicants could very well have also had nominations from other sources, as well, which is not unusual.
 
@prarends My kid is an SD/VET nom. It is a VERY small pool--my understanding is that the kids are looked at very closely and against each other--but the number actually admitted is only about 5. The kids still need to apply to every possible nominating source (Congressman, Senators, VP)--so that they are competing in multiple pools. (USMA and USNA are very clear on this requirement. To me, it seemed like a significant additional burden-- to do all that paperwork when you already have a nomination--but it demonstrates desire.)

Most importantly is how your child uses his experience growing up as the child of a deceased or 100% disabled veteran to craft his essay addressing his calling to serve.

Full disclosure, we are a Gold Star family and my #3 Son did not get into USNA but he did get an appointment to USAFA and USMA. Go Army!

And don't confuse the "National Pool" with the "Waiting List", two different things. Those getting appointments this late in the cycle are most likely from the 'Waiting List'.

Yes ...all NAPS Midshipman Candidates (MC) are required to apply for MOC Nomination. The reason is that SECNAV has a finite number of Appointments available, and that number is less than the total number of MC's and other sources vying for SECNAV appointments. A MC with another Nomination source gives Admissions more flexibility on how to allocate nominations. MC's shouldn't be alarmed --- this has gone on for years , and MC's are told not to worry - Admissions will find a Nomination and make the numbers work if they successfully complete the program.
