We checked everywhere on the USCGA.edu website, but we can't seem to find their policy regarding the new SAT's optional essay. If you plan to apply EA this fall and take the May and/or June 2016 SAT, does anyone know if you need to register for the optional essay? All the other schools we're interested in have posted their optional essay policies already, and no one is requiring it so far. It'll be helpful to find out before the May SAT deadline.

Hoping, that's an excellent question. It would be very good to get a definitive answer from CGA admissions. Objee?

Official policy on whether or not a Writing score, since the section is now optional for both ACT and SAT exams, will be required for the Class of 2021 has not been approved yet but should be soon. I would recommend anyone registering for exams (before the policy is published) to plan to take the Writing section...that would seem like the Semper Paratus move to me.

When and where can we go to find out once the official policy is in place? Will it be clarified in the ADMISSIONS section of your website? With all the AP exams and finals taking place in May and June, we're wondering if we should just delay taking the SAT and wait for the official word. Is the October SAT too late if you're applying EA, or will it be ok? Our DD already took the old SAT and scored 1960, but she probably should retake the new SAT, correct? Thank you for your advice!
