Still being considered

Hi guys, I have been lurking over this forum for the past few weeks and abosolutly love the information, but now I have a question :).

I am a prospective applicant for 2020 and as of now I am pretty sure both slots offered by my MOC have been filled (Darrell Issa CA 49). I found out that one slot was filled when I emailed my congressman and when I saw someone post on the appoinment ntment thread. The next day my ALO gave admissions a call on my behalf and reported to me that I am still under consideration. I have not recieved a TWE and have not had my portal updated. Does anyone know if I am in the national pool or where I stand. Thank you all so much.

Remember - about half the appointments come from the National Waiting List

So If these recent offers are general appointments from MOC nominations when do they start sending out appointments from the NWL?

Or are we currently seeing appointments from the NWL?

@k$Mom, I am going to make a SWAG (Scientific wild-a$$ guess) and say that we're not yet to the NWL as I haven't seen a single AFA appointment from my district's MOC. Then again, that's just one district, so who knows...

Pretty sure they are taking from the NWL now because I was recently offered an appointment and someone else got an appointment a while back, both of us only had a nom from the same congressman and I'm pretty sure he only had one slot open

It really is hard to say. I suspect they still have some on MOC slates that need to be filled and they probably have sent out offers to others on the NWL. If they come across someone that they really want and the MOC slot is filled, I'd wager that person got an offer.

Something else to keep in mind. Not everyone accepts the offer. Some get offers from another SA and decide to go that way. Others decide that ROTC and a civilian school is really better for them (I know someone who did just that!) I also know of someone who got an appointment 1 week before I-day.

If you haven't heard that you've been declined, then you're still in the running. Yes, that race may take another month or two, but until you hear one way or another, you're still good -- anxious maybe, but good.

So even if both slots have been filled then I still have a chance in the national pool and in the national pool roughly half (600-700ish?) of the remaining appointments are given? And generally when does the National Pool appointments get released.

Where a NOM gets issued my NOT be the same place it is charged by the SA, so you can't determine your 'chances' of an appointment by looking at the status of others from the same MOC. Until you get a TWE, you are still in the running for an appointment.

Until you get TWE, you are still in the running. Remember....not everyone that "receives" an appointment "accepts" their appointment. I know its stressful - we're still waiting, as well. Keep focused on your schoolwork and making good decisions, and make sure those plans B, C are in place. Stay strong!

Yes. About half the appts come from the NWL. We should be seeing NWL appoints starting just about now -- late March - April and beyond.
