No nomination yet but no TWE??

My DS did not receive a nomination but is still listed on portal as candidate. Is there still a chance he could get a nomination from unknown source? If no, why has he not received TWE letter yet?

He has received an appointment from USMMA and waiting to hear about appt to USNA where he has a MOC nomination.
 
From the portal: "Should USAFA deem you competitive and/or you receive a nomination, you will become a "Candidate." Note that you may receive a nomination and still not be deemed competitive by USAFA." I am guessing that you were deemed competitive. I do not know of any last minute nominations but I am new to the whole system.

Did he apply for the VP nom?? I am not sure when they are given. If he does not get a nom, then he cannot receive an appointment; unless they chose him for the Prep, which does not require a nom.
 
Momof4 touched on why the TWE has not arrived. VP nomination. To be honest that is not something I would bank on from an appointment aspect, but there is someone that will get it, and it could be him.
 
I'm one of those weird people that got a VP nomination. I received an LOA on 19 April 2013, a nomination from the VP a couple of days later, then an appointment on 26 April. It can happen!
