Hi everyone,

I am a prospective applicant for the United States Air Force Academy Class of 2021. I was recently selected for the AFA's Summer Seminar Session A and thought I would post my resume/stats to see if anyone had an insight into things I should improve on or emphasize in my application later this summer.

An introduction to me: I am a legal resident of Austin, Texas Congressional District 25. I am a native speaker in Spanish and English (I am white though) and am almost fluent in Swahili.

Academic Achievements:

-Within top 10% of my class(3.79 GPA Unweighted) (Nearly all A's) (I go to one of the most rigorous private schools in the world that's why my GPA is lower but I am still ranked within top 10% of my class)
-National Honor Society member
-2020 SAT (670 Reading, 670 Math, 680 Writing) (I'll take this again even though it is a high score)
-1,410 PSAT score (99th Percentile in math) (99th percentile in reading/writing) (highest PSAT score in my school and East Africa)
-710 out of 800 on SAT II Spanish Exam
-4 out of 5 on AP World History and Computer Science A Exams
-PSAT score qualifies me to be a National Merit Scholar in Texas
-most rigorous AP/IB schedule with 6 IB/AP classes as a junior/senior
-One of the only students in my school’s history to have an A+ in IB math and IB Physics Higher Level
-STEM Student of the Year (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
-Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honors Society) member

Leadership Achievements:

-Class Vice-President (10th Grade)
-Model United Nations Committee Chair
-Editor of the Spanish Newspaper Club
-President of Kenyan Economic Readiness (Club designed to teach less fortunate Kenyans about the
economic system and how to attain low-interest micro-loans, something that is typically very hard to do in Kenya.)
-President & Co-Founder of Habitat for Humanity in Mexico
-Head Pianist and Conductor for my school’s premier Jazz Band (9th/10th grade)

Sports Achievements:

-Varsity Basketball (9-11th Grade) (Captain in 10th-11th Grade) (MVP)
-Rock Climbing National Champion (U18 Division)
-Varsity Football (9th Grade)
-International Schools tournament's MVP
-American Schools of Mexico Basketball Champion and MVP

Extracurricular and Service Activities:

-United Nations Development Program Volunteer (Very rare accomplishment)
-Habitat For Humanity
-Kangemi Orphanage (largest slum in Africa)
-InterAct
-Kenyan Economic Readiness
-Various other service programs

Work Experience:

-Paid Intern a United States Embassy

Sorry for the long post and I appreciate any responses. Thank You

Yes I agree with usafa12, right now you sit EXTREMELY competitive in all categories, so keep up the good work, stay in shape, and I'm sure you will be looking at a USAFA appointment this time next year.

You have no shot at all. Grossly under qualified, and not nearly worldly enough. Not to mention lacking academic and athletic accomplishments.

Lol. Always wanted to say that on one of these, and figured OP could take the sarcasm.

Your app looks pretty dreamy to me my friend. Keep up the pace and stay out of trouble.

You, sir, have an application that myself and many of our fellow 2021 applicants (I think I speak for all of us) dream of. Keep up the good work, brother. Aim high.

I agree, you look pretty good but Texas is competitive and I would try to bring up the SAT a bit more. Also I wouldn't count on National Merit just yet. You should be commended, depending on your score break down, but I think its going to take more to be a semi-finalist in Texas for the c/o 2017.

Texas may operate differently but in Missouri, students were notified back in the fall if they received national merit

For the class of 2016, the class of 2017 will not find out until August or so. They might find out next month if they are commended but the final state cut offs are not released for 5 or 6 more months.
