I feel like waiting for this letter is like being the last kid picked for a game at recess. It seems like everyone on the site is getting their letter in the mail left and right and i'm still waiting here...hope going down and self confidence going down with it.

I know there's a couple of you still waiting too so at least i know im not the only one but i don't know how much more waiting i can do

Just hold tight, for all you know, severaal people on your slate didn't complete their package until the cut off date, thus it will take longer since the board had to review them.

Keep the fingers cross and think only good thoughts!

Good luck

My heart goes out to all you candidates that do not get an appointment this round. I can empathize with the mental anguish you feel now: relentless oscillation between "did I get in?", "No, I did not get in.." That's a serious roller coaster ride between doubt and despair. Use that to your advantage and make yourself determined to try again next year. Think about your Plan B and your strategy to improve your portfolio. Start the application process again in July. Go to college and Join AFROTC there. You now know what to expect. From what I read on these forums (ask Christcorp), the AFA puts extra weight on triple qualified candidates that don't give up. I'll be praying for you guys.

Stay strong JamesD!!!

Lots of people are pulling for you! :thumb:

james; as others have said; hang in there. Realize that when and if another person on this forum received their appointment, has no bearing on whether you will or won't get one. In other words, just because most people who post on this forum may have received their appointment already; doesn't mean your chances of getting on has been reduced. You #1 competition for a slot are others in your state who are also applying. After those slots get filled it starts to get more difficult. Then you start going into a national pool. Realize that you have done everything you possibly can to this point. There is nothing you can do other than wait. If for whatever reason it doesn't quite work out this year, doesn't mean it won't next year. As others have mentioned, the academy does look favorably on those who re-apply. They know if you applied previously. They love determination.

FWIW; my son said that he believes that South Dakota and one other state that has NO ONE IN THE CLASS OF 2012. I say this for others looking into applying. There's some people who think their gpa, EC, sports, etc... aren't that impressive. Many decide not to apply. Well, if you are the ONLY one applying in your district, your odds go up a lot. Imagine a person in South Dakota applying who thinks they are average, but apply anyway? They've got one hell of a chance of getting selected if they qualify. Wyoming has the LEAST AMOUNT OF DISTRICTS. They have 1. So a Wyoming applicant is competing with every other applicant in the state. California has the MOST districts. However; if you live in an area like Berkley without a LOT OF APPLICANTS, you may have an EASIER chance than the applicant in Wyoming. ALWAYS APPLY. NEVER GIVE UP. If you don't get selected this year; ask your ALO and counselor WHAT AREAS YOU NEED IMPROVEMENT ON. Best of luck. later... mike....

Thanks so much! It's stressful but whatever happens happens!

Sorry, but I watched Dodgeball this weekend... even if you get picked last (I'm pullin for ya), you still will probably get pummeled. Doesn't matter if you're first or last, we all get the same. Keep your head up.

Hang in there

Those of you waiting....please do not give up hope..none of you is the "last kid picked at recess".

Each of you that applied has shown that you are ready to be more than the "average" college student.

Have faith in your abilities and wait (as patiently as you can)...

as corny as it sounds ....all good things come to those who wait.

So many of us are rooting for you!

Along with what Starvin said, focus your energy on things you can change, like your physical fitness, as it will make BCT a lot easier, even tolerable.

I know I have gotten lazy, it is almost embarrassing that I can only do 30 push ups straight, even if I do that much, because then I just get distracted doing something else. But now I'm going at it to get myself back into decent shape, and the only thing I want is air pressure of 10,000 ft to train in to make BCT just a bit easier.

Oh, and will someone throw some warm weather up here in Alaska? I'm tired of it snowing here.

change in ethnicity

On my son's status page his ethnicity has changed from "other" to "not hispanic or latino". "Other" for my son means he's a blend of various european and middle eastern ethnic backgrounds. Any ideas on why this part of his status would change.

Air Power...be honest it always snows in AK in April, but AK is probably the best state in the nation...just beautiful, than again we were at Elmendorf!
BTW I started wearing shorts in April up there. Nothing more comical than watching kids ride their bikes on snow packed streets!

James how you holding up...I hope you keep thinking only positive!

I'm alright..just waiting still. If I don't get in I'll apply again next year. I'm still waiting to hear back from USC as well, that's my 2nd choice and ASU is my 3rd choice after that. ASU accepted me early december and I have a good about of friends going there too. And they have an AFROTC, so does USC, it's just too bad I didn't take the time to apply for that scholarship.

No mail today :( whats going on :(

Your parents MOVED and didn't tell you. LOL!!! :sofa:
Sorry; just trying to lighten things up.

Repeat after me.
Ohmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Ohmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I'm in Southeast Alaska, so it don't get very cold (it rarely goes below 20 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter, but is 50 degrees and rainy the whole summer) but I'm just tired of the weather being so bad here, sunny today though, and black ice everywhere!

Couldn't have said it better myself.

That analogy is perfect, I totally feel the same way. Left and right are people posting their acceptance and I'm getting really nervous. I did get my paperwork in right before the deadline so I've heard mine probably has only recently been looked at. I just want to find out whether it's a yes or a no. :O

I thought you were Ramius due to the similar avatars.... Then I read the post and I was like WHAT?!!? then I looked at the name and was like oOo :yllol:
