Academic tests during BCT period ???

Just curious as to the academic placement tests given during BCT, are these administered to all basic cadets in every subject, or just subjects where the basic cadet believes they should be able to validate out of a required course or wishes to enter a course series at a higher level?
 
Everyone takes a chemistry, calculus, history, and language placement test. There might be a couple others, but those are the ones I remember. You don't have a choice. Those who think they can validate more can take an additional calculus placement test. If you don't want to try to validate, just fill in the bubbles and take a nap. You will learn to appreciate briefings, honor lessons, and placement tests during Basic.

I believe Physics is on that list, too.

There is a physics test that you take before 110, but for me at least, it wasn't in Basic and it's not a placement test. It's a test that you take at the beginning and end of the class to see how the scores improve.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if that one was during BCT or not. I do know a cadet who placed out of Physics I. I'm sure that's on a case by case basis then.
 
They offer a physics validation test at the beginning of each semester. I've heard you basically take the final for the class and if you score high enough (70% I think), you validate. One of the guys in my squad validated 110, so he went straight to 215 this semester. That test is totally optional but it is nice to try to validate at least one semester of physics if you already have a background in the subject.
 
My DS could have validated out of two classes. He chose not to and it was a good decision for him. He did very well academically and was able to tutor others in his squad. A nice bump to the GPA for later too.
 
I still learn things on this site!
I asked my DD and she decided not to validate out of Physics since she's majoring in it. She wanted to make sure she had a very strong foundation before taking on harder classes. It's worked out really well for her.
 
There was also a computer science test. As for whether or not to take the validation credit if you do well enough, I recommend it. It really frees up space in your schedule later to take more classes pertinent to your major or take a lighter load during the harder majors classes. I validated the first year of calculus and calc 3 (even though I had never taken calc 3 before...not sure how that happened). I opted to start in calc 3 which allowed me to double major in physics and math without too many crazy semesters
