DS's CLC dates confirmed. From what I've seen online, could anyone confirm that we should be at FT Knox day before final day and the final day.
I've noted prior postings for things to do around Ft Knox.

Does anyone have experience with combining visit to Nashville ?
Thanks!

If you're able to go and want to turn it into a family trip, then I think you should go for it. However, some parents in the past have severely overestimated exactly what family day and graduation from LDAC/CLC would be and leave disappointed after spending a good amount of resources on the trip. However, if you're scooping DS and moving out with the fam to Nashville, then you'll probably enjoy yourself more.

I'll be honest, FT Knox is boring, surrounded by nothing, with little going on since they moved the MTOE units away. Not to rain on anyone's parade, but it's better to be honest with ourselves up front about exactly what CLC is and not have expectations of a blue Angels airshow and lots to do.

And the above isn't directed at you, in particular, just a general heads up to any parents thinking about making the trip.

We had two sons go through ROTC. We went to the older son's LDAC graduation only because we live about 45 minutes from Ft. Lewis (Used to be held there). Second son went to LDAC at Ft. Knox, after attending the first LDAC graduation we never even entertained the thought of flying from Seattle to Ft. Knox for his graduation.

When we went to the older son's graduation all he wanted to do was get out of there as soon as it was over. It may be different now but there was not much to it.

Bull is right, if you're combining your trip to Ft. Knox with a family vacation, or you live close by (one day's drive) then go for it, but a trip specifically for the graduation may be worth a second thought. For us, we saved the money and bought him his ASUs and had a nice vacation after he commissioned.

The other reason to consider attending the CLC Family Day and Graduation is if your cadet is being commissioned at the end of camp.

Absolutely, wouldn't have missed that for the world.

Very helpful comments and confirmed my suspicions. DS is current MS III... I'm looking for any excuse to go to Nashville.....
Thanks all

My DS who is MSIII is going to CLC this summer but doesn't know the dates yet because he is waiting to hear from the Corp of Engineering internship for dates. They are trying to coordinate everything. We were planning on going because my oldest son lives in Pittsburgh and were going to make a family vaca out of it. (We live in Louisiana) But my oldest son found out this morning he is being transferred to Houston (Thank God he still has a job) and their first child is due in July. So now I'm not sure what is going to happen with those plans. Opposite directions.

I really want to go but I realize to many people it isn't a big deal. But in my opinion, anything that happens with my children is a big deal. Plus, like I tell my children all of the time, it gives me an excuse to travel. =;}
