As the parent of a 2020 USAFA wannabe, I want to thank you, and you all know who you are, for the great service you do for us parents, students, and others seeking information, camaraderie, and plain old hand holding. You bring humor when it's needed, hard talk when it's needed, and kind words as well.

I stumbled on this forum several months back when DS mentioned wanting to attend USAFA. It became my mission to understand as much as I could about the process, both before appointment and after. That's just my personality. I have asked questions, but more often have learned from others' questions and the responses you all have supplied. For sure, my wannabe's decision time is drawing near. That's why I needed to tell you all now.

In short, thank you, thank you, thank you! We, and the academies, are very lucky to have you. Of course, you do realize each of us has the potential to refer more newbie wannabes to you! The ripple effect! :bounce1: Indeed it is cyclical!

This was me too! I googled something about NROTC interview questions and ended up here! I too needed to understand the process and now with my DS happily drunk on the blue kool-aid at his NROTC unit, I'm now getting back on the roller coaster with my DD. This time it's USCGA. I feel a bit more prepared this time around and am grateful to all who share their experiences here to help others navigate the SAs.

Good luck to your wannabe (I should probably change my name now that I actually am a navy mom...)

That is so funny, navymom! I was just thinking how if I continue on this for him here shortly I would have to change my moniker one way or another. Congratulations to your son!

I agree, the forum has been, and continues to be very helpful..
We found out about from the West Point visit briefing officer who made a point of telling us to not believe a word we read on it. So of course I immediately looked it up.
Thank you.

Hopefully you all will stay active on the forum and become one of the old timers. The main purpose of this forum is knowledge, and anyone with any experience, good or bad, brings knowledge. And the academy is always changing and evolving. Therefor new perspectives and experiences is always needed. Pass it on.
