I am not 18 yet, so as of now, I can't start the process. But yes, I am aware of the latter part of your response.

U.S. citizen is not a requirement for NASS. It's only if I am offered an appointment, I must be a U.S. citizen by I-Day.

I am a official candidate aswell, they do not have the portal open and from what I can tell it will not be open until they start accepting preliminary applications
 
So how did you know? DS applied to NASS and was accepted early but he hasn't mentioned any other correspondence other than NASS related so I wonder if he missed something? Or maybe nothing yet?
