Hi! I just got my April scores back and am not totally satisfied. They improved by 3 points from my February score. I got a 32 for math and English and 25 for reading and 26 for science. I'm going to take it again in June and hope to improve more, but does navy really care that much about science and reading? They are my lowest scores. Thanks

Not sure if they look at science, but on the portal they will display your all your test scores you submit, but they only display Math and English, so work on bringing that English up!

My understanding is that Navy only looks at Math and English. So, you are off to a great start with a 32 in each. As they say, keep taking until you get a 36.:)

They will only look at the Math and English scores on the ACT and they SuperScore. There is no risk in re taking and getting a lower score for USNA's purposes

where are you seeing this on the portal for the 2021 class ?

Towards the bottom third of the USNA 2020 portal

'Official Test Scores'

Date. Test. Math. Verbal
ACT/SAT

'Verbal' is typically referred to here as English

The portals just opened. Just because you submitted it, you need to give it time to be processed and uploaded

If it doesn't show in 4-6 weeks from submission, then follow-up.

It is my understanding that the USNA 2021 portal will not be opened until later this summer. Correct ?

I have no idea if the 2021 portal is open. The admissions application process for 2021 just opened.

Your question was where on the portal (paraphrasing) and I described its location from the 2020 portal

You are in for a long journey. Patience will be a great asset to you. When the portal does open (if it hasn't already) you will get email notification to check it and it will include your login information

I applied for the class of 2020, and now am applying for the class of 2021, so I am referring to the portal from last year, I got knocked out last Wednesday, so the information is all fresh in my head. As Cerberi said, the process is a long one, so patience will be key.

Thanks for clarifying that. Good luck to you.

if you scored very poorly on science but did very well in math/english will that look unfavorably on my app?

USNA only looks at math and English on the ACT

'Very well' is a relative statement. Read through the TWE threads - some of those rec'd perfect scores at least on one part that mattered to USNA

If you haven't done one already 1), take an intensive ACT prep class. Then 2), find a resource that will let you take practice ACT exams (lots of them) and review your test performance with you. I have one daughter (not the USNA bound one) who moved her ACT score from a composite 17 to a 25 following steps 1&2. She'd taken so many proctored practice tests that the "real ACT" was "just another day at the office".

If you haven't already done steps 1 & 2 ----do em, and put off a full up ACT until the Sept 15 exam, its not like you are running out of time.

Just my put ---- it sure worked for us

Good luck!

This was a tough test too. DS was hoping to get one more point to bring his superscore to a 34C but instead he stayed the same in one and down in the other three. One score dropped so much from the previous two tests he's wondering if he mis-bubbled? Still has good scores, 33C but this was frustrating, he was hoping to be done. June is out so Sept it is.

I actually just finished an ACT prep class and brought my score from 26 math and 25 english to 32 for both. So I guess I just have to keep studying more. My science and reading did not really improve.

That's great! But seriously, ask the folks that ran the prep course if they offer proctored practice exams it was a huge help for my kid. She got faster with the questions and it just took all the angst out of the "real thing" for her. Sounds like you have a solid approach to this stuff.
