We leave Thursday for DS's CVW. Any tips on what he should wear during the day. The email says jeans, but he was thining kakis and a collared shirt. Also, any tips on what to bring besides what is on the list: "overnight kit consisting of a pillow, sheets/linens, a towel, toiletries, workout gear, swim wear, and at least one pair of pants. You may want to bring extra funds to cover the cost of souvenirs and other activities you may participate in while visiting the Academy." I have also read about bringing your plebe a treat? Thanks for your help!

Following... My son and husband are going to cvw on Thursday as well. Son's planning on khakis and a polo shirt. I am baking cookies for son to bring to his Plebe.

My DS attended a CVW in March. He wore jeans and a collar shirt on arrival and khakis and a polo shirt to classes the following day. You see a little bit of everything. I was surprised at how casual some of the kids were on arrival. Shorts, t shirts, sweatpants...you also don't want to be the kid wearing a suit. We saw that too. Be comfortable but presentable.

Most kids had a sleeping bag and pillow which makes it easy. My son took some $ to buy some souvenirs. I made some brownies for his plebe.

Have a great time and attend all of the parent forums!

Khakis and a collared shirt are just fine. A/C isn't on yet, so might be a little toasty until that gets turned on. Bring some clothes to PT in, money for mid store if he wants to get some Midstore gear or pizza with his Mids on Friday night, something to sleep in and hang around Bancroft in. Also bring a book or iPad to keep busy in case your Mids are swamped with something. If they are go chat with others and learn as much as possible.

thank you! he did tell me he was bringing a book - his plebe as contacted him and said they have finals next week so there will be massive studying going on! looking forward to our visit!

I always say this many times and repeat it, make sure anyone going on a CVW talks to all classes at USNA. Their views of USNA and their world's will differ. There will be a ton of studying going on with finals around the corner, so if a Plebe is busy studying ask them if they can go talk to who is on watch, find someone sitting in the wardroom zoning out, find someone going on a run or to lift and tag along, etc. Ask them what their major was, what they did for summer cruise, why USNA, if they went prep or college before USNA, what they want to service select or have service selected, what they have liked or disliked about USNA, etc.

We are going to CVW on Thursday as well. My son is bringing Khakis and collared shirts for classes, and one pair of jeans for any evening activities. His sleeping bag is heavy weight so he will be brining linens instead. We are from Connecticut. Look forward to meeting everyone there! I think the weather will be cool and raining.

Son is bringing linens too. He and his Dad are flying and we couldn't get his bulky sleeping bag in his suitcase.

I think both our sons will be at USAF SS at the same time. The June 19th session?

Yes, my son is going to session 2 of USAFA SS too.

PM me with your sons contact info and I will have my son contact him this evening ( I don't think I have enought posts to send a PM yet/ haven't figured out how to do it yet). Or I will send you our contact info.

Hello all! I will be attending the CVW this Thursday and I am extremely excited! I hope you all have a great time as well. Quick question, unfortunately I do not have time to prepare home made goods, any suggestions for what I should bring as a treat for my plebe? Thanks.

It's not required to bring anything to the Plebes. It's always appreciated, but not required.
