If you spend any amount of time on these forums, you see the same questions over and over. A few of the repeat themes that get an eye roll from me each time are below. What are yours?

1 ) My "friend" took drugs and now has to take a drug test. Will my "friend" get kicked out?
2) I got a traffic ticket. Is my entire future doomed?
3) I clipped the tip of my DS's finger while trimming his nails in kindergarden. I wanted to be as truthful as possible while completing DODMERB paper work, so I checked the amputation box. I just got notice that he failed the physical unless I can provide documentation from a physician that he has all of his digits. Since we never went to the doctor at the time, I have no records. What should I do?

I've only been around here for five or six months, so I haven't exactly gotten a full year's worth of the same stuff. However I always chuckle at the "Chance me - SORRY!".

Are they sorry they're posting another "chance me"? Are they sorry they just can't help themselves from asking about themselves? Are they sorry they either didn't bother reading other threads on the same subject? And if they're sorry for asking the question I'm perplexed that they are "sorry" since they posted it anyway....so clearly not "sorry" after all ;)

My eyes glaze over with the "chance me." I don't touch them, but luckily for the applicants, plenty of other people are willing to indulge them.

Or the ones that ask very basic questions that could be found if they utilized the search function...

LMAO...it would be funnier if it wasn't so true!

For me it is the threads like what is a PRINCIPLE nomination? I always want to say the principle is to get a PRINCIPAL nomination.

The other is when they post their essays on the forum and other candidates critique the essay. Can we say the blind leading the blind here? Why would any 17/18 yr old take guidance from another 17/18 yr old in the same boat? That and it never crossing their mind that if it is a fantastic essay they risk somebody "lifting" or mimicking portions of it for their own essay!

My final one ties onto the Another chance me, sorry threads, but the :bang::bang::bang: is when their moniker is something like john.mcmahon496. and in it they state their from timbucktoo Neb., captain of the FB team, volunteers at the soup kitchen, works at Target. Let's be real 496...hmmm can I get 20 for my 10 that you were born in APril of 1996?
~ It is comical to me because someone will than post you need to change your moniker because this is an anonymous forum and their next post is either how do I do that or why should I? For a tech savvy generation that lives on the net, it is :shake: that they are asking the old people for tech guidance and why it is not smart to put your name out there.
~~SILLY ME, I forgot it wasn't that they couldn't figure out how to do it, it was just the easiest path to find the answer instead of doing their own research on the site.

The folks who criticize typos and misuses of words. They are rarely the ones who should be. Also, pretty much every post asking if lettering in band counts as a sport. Come on, bro. Oh, and the "How do I get a waiver????????!!!!???!!11" ones are a classic.

And here we go down the rabbit hole! Thanks for the attack!

You win...tapping out because I am not someone who ACTUALLY served in your eyes, just a spouse that followed Bullet around the world for 21 years and now has a DS ADAF. We all get your message constantly....spouse/parent shut up and color, let the big boys play.
~ Is there a post you have yet to follow me or certain other posters that you have been on that you don't remind us of that fact? I am not WORTHY! I am good with that, but I prefer to crochet in the corner over coloring...is that okay with you? I also did the dishes today in the kitchen barefoot, but since I am 51, I am not pregnant...thank god :D

I wish you and your wife much joy on the upcoming birth of babyscout. I hope you remembered to celebrate today with her too. Even though she has yet to bring your child in this world, as a Mom, to me she is already a Mom by nurturing and keeping the baby safe/healthy while in her womb.

OBTW, yes, it is my opinion that if you are going to enter the military, you pay attention to the small details. That is part of this life. I get the typo the 1st shot out, but when you have 5/6/10+ posters constantly writing PRINCIPAL and you continue to write PRINCIPLE, it than says to me you are either missing the small detail or you do not care enough to pay attention to what the other posters keep saying...principal.

Sorry for the divert and ready for the red card, but I couldn't let that post go without a response. I saw it as a personal attack, and I have been here long enough to read between the lines.
~ I apologize to new posters and lurkers that I got in the mud. However, it is also a learning lesson. We may not all see eye to eye, but when it comes to you getting your dream we will all be on the same page and assist in every manner. It is up to you to read between the lines and give weight to the replies for the thread you created.

Back on topic...CaptMJ what TN needs to do impo is have this be a sticky. Posters/Lurkers will now see the underbelly of the forum before they create their 1st post.

That was a general criticism that the people who criticize grammar often have little room to talk. There is actually an Internet rule about that.

Anyhow, if the shoe fits, wear it. I'll admit it did seem an odd pet peeve from a poster who talks about "pulling chalks." Surely if we want to sticky a post criticizing new members and their questions, we can take a bit ourselves.

I for one have left you all no shortage of material to work with on that front.

Guilty as charged. I once could not resist pointing out that the poster misspelled candidate in his/her thread professing to be an "over qualified canidate."

"I want to be (insert extremely small/difficult to enter career field), which Academy should I go to?"

I want to become a SEAL. How do I do that through an academy?

I want to be Harm from the TV show JAG. How do I do that through an academy?

I want to make a lot of money when I graduate. How do I do that through an academy?

I saw the movie Annapolis, so I know that they sometimes call up candidates after I-Day to join the class. So there’s still hope for me, even though I was rejected three months ago, right?

"What's the best route to being a CIA spy or FBI special agent?"

I was also a huge fan of one special question.... I'm paraphrasing here...

"Is it true that West Point graduates have a high top secret clearance that allows them to access any classified information?"

Boots..... Comes up all the time. Please do a quick search first.

Then the...

" I am in the 7th grade and I want to double major in aeronautical and Astro engineering and minor in Chinese and Arabic and want to be a flight instructor and captain on the water polo team. OBTW I also want to be wing commander and band leader and lead the wings of blue as a freshman. I also plan to cross enroll at USNA one year then West Point the following year.

When I graduate from the academy I want to go to med school and be an f-35 pilot at the same time and in my spare time fly with the Thunderbirds. What do you think about this plan?"

Or the....

"I got LOAs and subsequent appointments to USNA, USAFA, West Point ,USMMA and CGA in December. I really didn't want to go there but just applied on a whim. I am planning on accepting all of them and decide later if I am going.at all and which school I am going to show up at. ."

I know these are exaggerated ones but some posts are pretty darn close.

And yes the "PRINCIPAL vs principle " nomination gets me all the time. How does "principle nominee" even make sense?

"How much of Contrails/Reef Points/Bugle Notes should I memorize (do I need to know the font type and size?) and where can I buy it?"

If you want a real laugh, take a look at the GoArmy.com discussion board once. That was the first board my older son looked at when he started the process. The questions on this board pale in comparison to some of the questions on that board.

"I have two felonies on my record, can I still enlist?"
" I am not married and have two kids from different fathers, will this hurt my chances?'
"I have three current drug charges, how can I get a waiver to join, I want to be an officer."

These are some of the tame ones, makes you shake your head sometimes.
