So I'm going to the summer seminar in a few weeks and I know that I will take the CFA while I am there. I'm not very good at the pull ups and push ups and I'm still working at it.
If I take it there and don't do as well as I'd like, am I allowed to take it again?

Thanks!

Yes, you can resubmit if they tell you that you didn't pass.
Note though they don't tell you what you didn't pass.
Also, if you are a young lady, you don't have to do pull ups, just a hanging exercise.

I am a girl, but doesn't it look better to do at least one pull-up than the arm hang?

Not sure but there are people here who know better. Just giving a little feedback. What session are u? DS is 2.

@navyafgirl yes 1 pull-up is a higher score than any length of flexed-arm hang. Always aim for the pull-up

EDIT: Straight from the USNA website - "This is an alternative measure of muscular strength and endurance. If a woman can successfully perform 1 correct cadence pull-up, it is to her advantage on the scoring scale to use the pull-up result instead of a flexed-arm hang. The scale score (0-100) for 1 cadence pull-up is higher than the highest scale score for a maximum score on the flexed-arm hang." (Emphasis mine)

awesome, thank you! I'm going to hopefully be able to do one by the time I go... working really hard!

Does anyone know if they will release the actual CFA scores to the kids at NASS? Just so they will know what they need to improve on....

USNA doesn't release CFA scores. You, of course, will know how well you did on each evolution. They will tell you if you pass or fail. Note that, while the CFA is a pass/fail evolution, you can improve your situation by doing well on the CFA. The most important sections to USNA are pushups, crunches and the mile, though you want to do well in every area.

In terms of gauging your scores, you can look at your scores (e.g., number of pushups, time in mile run) vs. the max, which USNA publishes. Obviously, the closer you are to the max in any event, the better. If your score in one or more areas is far from the max and you fail, well, those are likely the areas on which you need to improve. If you pass but your score in one more areas is still far from the max, you may want to retake the CFA to improve.

You are permitted to retake the CFA as many times as you like prior to Jan. 31. However, note that CFA is NOT a super-score. Rather, if you want to retake the CFA you request that your RD "zero" your scores. Thus, your most recent score is the only one that counts, even if it is worse than a prior test.

Will those at NASS be given a printed summary of how many pushups, etc. they did?
