Am I competitive for an ROTC scholarship at Georgetown?

So, I'm a rising senior in high school, and I just happen to be visiting Georgetown on Friday. The ROTC guy there calls me, and since I had already been considering ROTC I scheduled an interview. Am I competitive with these stats:

GPA: 3.82 UW, 4.34 W
Class rank: top 10% (63/712)
ACT: 31 Composite

Sports:
Football: played from Freshman through Junior year. I was varsity sophomore and junior year, not playing senior year

Track: Varsity thrower from Freshman through Junior year, playing on competing senior year

Leadership:
Boy's concil mentor- tutor disadvantaged 6th grade boys and teacher leadership

Link Leader- I help ease the transition of eight graders from middle to high school

Club officer: I am an officer in my school's cultural club

Tutor- I helped start a tutor organization at my school

Awards:
-National Latin Exam Silver Medal (Freshman Siphmore)

-National Latin Exam Gold Medal (Junior)

-National Security Language Initiative for Youth Scholarship winner- this state department scholarship will allow me to study Arabic in Morocco for 8 weeks this summer

Other:
Expect Intermediate Low-High proficiency in Modern Standard Arabic by the end of the summer. I will also have a basic understanding of the the Moroccan dialect, Darija

I am black (I dun of if this affects anything)

I'm a quadruplet (this is just a cool little thing about me)

I plan to Major in International Relations and Econmics in addition to an Arabic minor. My end goal is Diplomacy or Intel work.

You do have a very strong resume and stand a very good chance to get a ROTC scholarship. Getting the scholarship has got nothing to do with admission to GT. Are you a Army kinda guy? [Go Navy Beat Army ].

I am curious, what branch? Army will let you have any major, Navy and AF more tech focus (except Navy Marine Option lets you study anything too).

Basically it will be said more times than just me, you cannot get a scholarship if you do not apply. You look like a very strong candidate, however, what I think does not matter.

Meeting with the ROO (recruiting operations officer) at Georgetown is awesome, and that will help you do several things. Learn more about ROTC, about if the ROO thinks you are a strong candidate and most importantly start to decide if the final product, serving in the military is really what you want to do.

Remember that a scholarship with ROTC does not help you get into the school and you have the opportunity to list multiple schools.

Off topic but you should reconsider playing football your senior year. It will help with admissions to all your schools. (no response necessary)

Your stats are competitive, but for Navy ROTC your major is tier 3. 85% of the NROTC scholarships are tier 1 & 2 (stem majors). Marine Option does not have the same Major bias.

I'm looking primarily at Army ROTC, plus Georgetowm only had an army ROTC program anyways. I'm looking at some Ivy Leauge schools for ROTC anyways. Also, the reason I can't play football next year is simple lack of time. I'll be taking a full load of AP classes, and will be totally involved with Model UN and the Cultural Club, along with National Honor Society and Voulteer stuff.

I am an army guy, plus the army is related to my future career goals in Intel and stuff. Once I finish serving, I can join the foreign service of an Intel agency

I know you said no response necessary, but I'm gonna be doing army ROTC, and I'm pretty sure I'm not marines material, so.

Also, Does anyone know what I should wear? I don't own a suit, so I was just gonna wear a nice polo with some ironed khakis. Is that too casual?

As long as it is neat and clean and not a tee shirt and jeans or shorts it should be fine. A button down shirt with tie and khakis would be better.

Hooah Hoya! If you want to study IR, you will not find a better program than at GU (sorry AU & GW) and the doors that will be opened to you studying in DC are unmatched. As to the scholarship? I think you're very competitive for an AROTC scholarship, just remember you gotta get into GU too. PM me if you have any questions about the battalion. That quadruplet thing is cool.

You can't go wrong with a black or charcoal suit. Dress conservative and you will be fine.

Pick schools you can get in to.
You will need to pick 5, 1 of which is in-state.
You may not get a scholarship to your first choice, you may not get in to your first choice
If you pick all schools that you cannot afford with out a scholarship and then you don't get one......
You need a plan A,B, C and be ready to adapt.

You are probably going to need a suit in the near future for college alumni interviews or senior awards ceremonies. Consider going to a thrift shop. You would be amazed at the selection of suits they have at very very affordable prices. My DS picked up a dark blue suit for $15.

So if this is just a first visit with the ROO not a PMS interview (that happens after you apply), then a collared shirt and khaki's is fine. For your actual PMS interview you will want to dress like for a job interview.

First of all, I hope you had a good interview. Next, as others have pointed out, the scholarship process and admissions process are two very different things. One will have no impact on the other. Just because you may get a scholarship does not ensure admission, nor does admission guarantee scholarship. As a mom who watched her daughter through the process over the past two years (SA process started junior year with her app for Summer Sem), I can tell you the following:
1. Put your schools into three buckets: Reach, Realistic, Guaranteed... and be realistic about those.
2. Have at least 3 in each bucket... especially with applying for a ROTC scholarship. Where you are placed depends on the size of the unit and availability of said unit.
3. ACT/SAT scores... always try to improve those scores. 31 is good. For GW, 34 would be better.
4. GW is very competitive. While leadership and extra curriculars are good... you still have to survive the rigor of the school while WORKING because essentially ROTC will be your job while you are there. Push yourself your senior year as much as you can in your classes.

My daughter did not get into GW as a full scholarship winner. 35 ACT, 3.9 GPA, Leadership, Athletics, Volunteering... everyone is a good student. Find what makes you a stellar candidate and use it for your essay.
