I heard that they install computer monitoring software on the computers.

Is this true? If so, what can and can't they monitor? Do they monitor just what websites you go to. Or is it a full keylogger that monitors everything you type and takes a screenshot of the the screen you're watching every x amount of minutes?

Big Brother is watching your every move. . . .Plebe year, especially at the beginning will not afford a lot of time on the computer. . .

If you aren't doing anything inappropriate online, then you should have nothing to worry about. Many civilian companies also monitor PC usage of their employes, that is just the way it is.

It's called "Windows 10"

There is a reason we call it the "Zoo". Just one of the ways you will feel like a caged animal, constantly being watched.

To paraphase the words of Warden Norton: "I believe in two things: discipline and micromanaging your life. Here you'll receive both. Put your trust in the Lord; your a$$ belongs to me. Welcome to Kings Point."

Yup. . . you're old life is over. Welcome to the new life. . . in a few years, some type of normalcy will return, but it will never be the same and that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

But be prepared, this takes several years of post-graduation "re-education" to fully take effect ... assuming it ever does. My wife is still waiting.

Neither my ex nor my current other knew me "before" . . . It has been 35 years this month. . . and I still have some residual oddities. . . .

Mine was with me for my last two years. She saw and experienced enough on her own that she is practically a classmate.

I heard of the IT dept catching a mid with a lot of pornography stashed on his computer. I believe they sent that over to the commandant's office. They don't actively monitor what individuals are doing in real time (the IT dept is mostly contractors who probably wouldn't care). But they do log the number of times you attempt to visit blocked sites as an indication of whether your system may be infected and shut you off before you can compromise other systems on the network.
