Well, I'm finishing up 1st Reg right now; just got out of the woods recently.
Granted, I don't exactly have the time to search the forums, I started this thread for cadets and parents to ask any questions you may have.

(Disclaimer: due to limited/crappy cell reception [Straighttalk - so if you have it, enjoy all the data in the world without any phone service, all the while on 4G LTE ...], plus only having phones 30 min from lights out)

So my responses will probably be limited due to how long it takes to load pages and all. I'll try to answer as many questions, but I will be focusing on important questions first.

Couple of notes: if you wear contacts be sure to bring some prescription glasses. Contacts are a no go in the field, and especially not in the gas chamber. Field time has been extended from 12 to 14 days (I believe this starts with 4th Reg). If you draw supplies from CIF - specifically sets of ACUs - if you can avoid wearing them, do so. When you get back from the field there is literally 2 days dedicated to cleaning all your gear. With ACUs, the big thing to be careful about are ink stains. They will not accept those, which means either you trade it in for one of your good sets, or you pay for them. I have ink stains on some of my uniforms, even though a pen was nowhere near the stain.

Once I get back home I can give more detailed answers and a somewhat detailed recap of what happened. But until then, expect short choppy answers.

So with that being said, what questions do you have?

So during those 14 field days, there will be no contact with cadets? I was wondering why DS hasn't texted me lately.

Things have sure changed since the LDAC days. Both sons had their phones taken away at in processing and did not get them back until the day or so before graduation. Written letters home were the only communication, when they were allowed to use a phone at the end it was just for a few minutes.

As someone that is in the last regiment could you possibly give some tips on any assessments that I can prepare for? During in-processing what else do you need besides the complete packing list(unfortunately my cadre were unable to sign ours), vaccinations records, and the Cadet OER? Thanks for starting this thread. It definitely will help all of us going in the later regiments.

Speaking of assessments, what kind of scores seem to be the average? I think it is called the Miller Assessment? How are OML points awarded on the scores?

I think you mean the Miller Analogy Test (aka the MAT) that cadets take at CLC. Not sure how they utilize scores for assessment purposes.

I believe when I took it, it said the average score was 400. Granted I took those almost 4 weeks ago.

Regarding tips, I'll give a more in depth answer when I get back home tomorrow.

In processing. Not much else. If you have your packing list, you should be good to go. Honestly, don't fret too much on a signed packing list. My cadre didn't even look at ours. Your cadre must be on top of their game. We weren't even told to bring a completed OER, nor vaccination records .
