Reapplication- College courses

I'm reapplying this year for the class of 2021. I will be a freshman at a local community college.
On the USNA website, the admissions department suggests taking classes similar to the plebe course load (take calc, chem, eng, and history).

So, it's better to take a history class instead of a physics class? This makes me nervous because in high school not having a physics and calculus class was already a red flag in the eyes of the admissions board. Can someone clear that up for me?

Also, I'm reapplying for an nrotc scholarship in an engineering track. Would the NROTC board look at my application unfavorably since I don't have a physics class, considering I'm leaning towards engineering?

Have you spoken to your admissions counselor from last year to discuss your previous application? What about your BGO? Recommend you talk with them and gain their advice.

Plebes take Math, Chem, English, Government, and Cybersecurity their first semester (typically) and physics their second year.
It looks like your are missing english or a writing class.
I would not take both Chem and Physics at the same time. You already have mentioned a "red flag" for not having physics. It would be better to for you to take physics in lieu of Chem, but whatever courses you take make sure you excel.

Chem, physics and Calc is a heavy load for a freshman. I wouldn't do that. Depending on what type of Chem and level it was it might be okay to move on to physics. Talk to your admissions counselor. They can give you the best advice to your application and addressing weak spots.

If I do decide to take a history class, would it be US History or World History? Or just go with Government?

I did take AP Physics in high school senior year, so I do have some physics background.

Usually most colleges have Physics as a second semester course, especially with engineering. This is because engineers use calculus based physics and Calc1 is usually a prerequisite. I would stick with what you said above. Add the English course for the first semester and then Physics for the second semester.
