Besides for nomination purposes, is there a mandatory interview for USMA? I know a Liasion officer may call you up, but will they for sure? And I know that USNA has the BG interview. Thanks.

To my knowledge, the interview with a liaison officer (similar to USNA's BG officer) is necessary for any applicant. I completed my USMA interview before the application even opened up and it gave me some great insight on what to expand on in my application. Best of luck!

The USNA requires a competitive applicant to be interviewed by a B and G (Blue and Gold) Representative/Officer. WP does not have that requirement. FFR (Field Force Representatives) are not available at all MOC districts. FFRs are usually WP grads, Army Officers, retired Army Officers or civilians. If you attend SLE over the summer a Cadet will conduct an interview. (This will be done so the Cadet completes a leadership requirement). If you happen to live close by a FFR, I would encourage you to make an appointment so he can connect a face to a name. You will also go over your application and advise you of your weak areas and strong areas.

I don't believe that a FFR interview is "required", nor do I think it is something that will tip the scale in an applicants favor. But it could weigh against an applicant if they say something bad to the FFR. Some applicants don't get a FFR interview at all, and still get admitted. Mostly, its a way for USMA to get information to an applicant and his/her family, and make sure they know what they are getting into.

DS attend SLE this past June. What information is passed to attendee about this cadet interview during SLE ?

This is one of the reasons why WP does not require an interview because of how subjective and inconsistent it can be. During SLE, a Cadet conducting an interview does not have access to admissions information. An FFR does have access to a lower level of information from WP admissions. A Cadet will base his interview compared only to their experience. An FFR can look into your file and advise.
Both will give you encouragement to do your best!

I would send an email to your RC and find our if they will be in your area and try to meet them.

My FFR made a 60 mile trip to meet on a work day so you'd be amazed (and unbelievably grateful) what some will do. It was by far the most in-depth meeting I had with any of the academies. I would also suggest sending an email to your RC to find out if they live nearby.
