just wondering, would USMA or any other service academy ever randomly call up my PE teacher to check up on how I'm doing or how the CFA went? I'm just wondering because i read somewhere that they might talk to my teachers from the SOE to see if I'm still doing well in school etc.

Thanks :)

Would it be a problem if your PE teacher was contacted? :confused2:
No not at all! I am wondering because I had to ask my PE teacher from sophomore online gym class to administer it, and she never sees me since she is the overall online teacher in the district. All of my teacher SOEs are from teachers I know really well, so I was just wondering what my gym teacher could possibly say considering I've seen her max 3 times in my life.

I don't think this is something I would worry about. Put your focus on doing well on the CFA.

My son is currently at USMA and the PE recommendation was added last year and we thought it was silly. In his school district you take gym in 9th grade and never have it again unless you take a weight lifting, etc course. My sons PE instructor had retired, but thankfully he was in weight lifting his senior year so the new instructor did the SOE. I am not sure if West Point has considered that all states gym requirements are very different.

When you are on a varsity team in high school your team coach can also be considered. You should be involved in sports all four years in high school.

(A little background on Tug_Boat. I was voted by my peers in high school to be MVP all five years. Im very proud of that fact. That stat today has not been broken!)

Last year it specifically said a coach could NOT do the SOE. (unless they are a PE teacher)

Ok, there you go......
I guess its a matter of verbiage. If you take PE as a freshman, but you continue with a sport, (often playing a sport keeps you from attending PE because it fulfills graduating requirement) its difficult to get current insight on you abilities three years back. For our readers, keep this point in mind it could be problematic in the future.

Here if you are in a sport that is your PE class...so I guess the coach is the teacher? He does the grades.

I would ask your RC about this.
If your sport counts as a PE class, then your coach is still in the role of your coach.
If you were taking a PE class (not a sport that counts as a PE class), and your coach happens to teach the PE class, then he/she could do your PE SOE, as they are in the role of a PE teacher, not a coach.
That is my understanding of it. The rules of the PE SOE are a little murky, which is why I think you should ask your RC, if you do not have any other person to do your PE SOE.

Had a question, not sure if this is the correct threat. My DD attended SLE in June and has asked USMA to send CFA scores to USNA and USAFA. She called admission contact, emailed, left voice messages etc. And neither UNSA nor USAFA has received the scores. Any idea of who she contact to get this resolved? Has anyone else had this issue. She spoke on the phone with admission rep in late june and she was told the score would be sent asap. When it didnt arrive, she followed up with phone call and email and still no response.

I have having the same problem with USMA not sending scores to the other academies....
