I'm a soon to be plebe that just finished CBT a few days ago, so everything that happened during CBT is still very fresh on my mind. If anyone has any questions about CBT, feel free to put them below and I'll do my best to answer them.

Congratulations! How much sleep did you get a night?
First detail I generally got about 6 to 6 and a half hours of sleep. You are allotted 7 hours to sleep, but some of this time I had to use doing things like packing rucks, shining boots, going to the bathroom, etc. During 1st detail, if you had to take a dump, you basically had to go during sleeping hours because during the day there was never enough time. The first 3 days of CBT I didn't take a dump because I didn't realize I was allowed to leave my room to go to the bathroom after TAPS and they never gave us time to do so. So, pro tip, buy a watch that can have multiple alarms set at once, set one for 3 am each day during 1st detail, and take your dumps every day at 3 am. Also, set an alarm for about 15 minutes before wakeup time and get changed, brush your teeth, shave, etc. at that point. If you let the cadre wake you up at wakeup time you have like 3 minutes to do all of that and cause yourself a lot of unnecessary stress. Sometimes on Sunday you are allotted 8 hours of sleep, but not always.

Second detail I got about the same amount of sleep for the first 9 days, but on day 10 we went to Camp Buckner and stayed there the rest of the detail. Once I got to Buckner sleep changed a bit. We would spend 1 night in the field and 1 night under a roof, alternating each day. In the field sometimes we got less sleep because we did things like patrol bases. When we did patrol bases we got about 3-4 hours of sleep sometimes. There was nap time sometimes the next day though if we were allotted very few hours to sleep. Other than that, 6-6 and a half hours of sleep per night as well. Sleeping in the field was also kind of horrible because it rained basically every time we slept in the field, some nights I only got about an hour of sleep because I was very uncomfortable and cold in the rain.

Don't worry about sleep, your body will adjust to it really quickly. I used to not be able to function off less than like 8 hours of sleep, by the end of the 1st week I felt perfectly fine off only 6 hours of sleep.

Edit: Second detail there was enough time to take dumps during the day so I did not have to wake up every morning at 3 am to do so.

Quite shocked that you have enough time during reorgy week to get on SA forums to answer questions...your TL must be a corps squad athlete busy w/ practice to leave you unattended for so long!

My thought exactly. Reorgy week can be a very stressful week for Plebes and Yuks alike. I think my DD is more stressed this year as a Yuk than last year as a Plebe.

What CBT company were you in, and what AY company are you in? My son was in Charlie Co for Beast, and now in India 3 for academic year.

My son has had time this week to talk to and text us. Lots to do, but some down time as well, and it's not like they can do anything without being escorted.

My son liked sleeping in the field. He never mentioned rain, but maybe different situation. Sleep is a big factor it sounds like.

We are on our way to A-DAY as I type this. GO ARMY!

^^^Oh my. Entirely too much information. <Miss Manners blushes>
Well, I wish more people posted "too much information" more often on here! It would have saved me from having to refrain from defecating for 3 days, and would have allowed me to learn how to utilize the tactical pinch off method prior to arriving here.

Nice to know that you can shine suede boots...

If you arrive at your issue points early, you don't have to spend 5 hours waiting in line each time. When I went to get issued my rifle, me and my TL arrived a little late and ended up spending the entire morning there. Since then we've been going to the issue points early and getting through them quickly. Reorgy week isn't really all that busy even if you arrive to all of your issue points late.

I'd prefer to keep that information confidential in order to remain anonymous.

Companies slept in the field at different locations at different times. Maybe your son just got lucky and wasn't hit by the rain. Mine got hit by rain every night in the field except one or two. They set up a big tent for each platoon when it rained(except when we were doing patrol bases, on those nights we used hooches), but tents don't prevent flooding and we still all ended up getting soaked. I woke up in a pool of water more than once. Sleep wasn't a big factor for me, I felt like I got adequate sleep most of the time.

I'm gonna need you to elaborate on the pinch off method for future cadets. I have a feeling you might need to pm me though...

Keep up the good work Cadet (well, Cadet in a day)

I myself have yet to master the tactical pinch off method, so I would not be the ideal candidate to explain how to use it. Hopefully one of the veterans on this forum can step in and give you further guidance.

At A Day, I noticed a lot of brush shined shoes and brass with the lacquer still on. :yikes:

Was spit shining shoes and polishing brass abandoned or have I gotten so old I can't tell the difference anymore?
