Hello all,

What does it mean by USNA when they state that the age requirement are for those "at least 17 years of age and must not have passed your 23rd birthday on July 1 of the year of admission." I turn 23 on June 9th 2018, could I still apply for the class of 2022?

Yes I know I face impossible odds, I know. Just want to face the admission board one more time and feel pleased that I've given them my all since I've been a junior in high school.

It means that on July 1 of the candidate's Plebe Summer, they must be one of these ages: 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 or 22. They can't be 23. They can be 23 after July 1 of that summer they report in.
That is what I have understood that language to mean.

That's why there are other paths to a commission such as ROTC and OCS.

I didn't mean to come across as abrupt in my above post and discount your efforts to gain a USNA appointment. If you have given it your very best effort, and the door remains closed, then you take a deep breath and look for windows. Much of life is like that, and you become a more capable human by learning how to coach yourself through challenges.

Are you applying this year? Sounds like you have already written yourself off for class of '21. I recommend pushing hard instead. Best of luck!
